    I worked at Towergate Insurance

    Pros

Some good people who go the extra mile to keep the company running

    Cons

Disorganised, political minefield, complex technology, for every good person there are a number of very poor people. High turnover due to poor working conditions.

    Advice to Management

Not that they will listen but take care of the good people and listen to them.

Diminishing as all the good people are being culled.

    Cons

You are just a number and it won't be long before that number comes up in a "reorganisation"

I worked at Towergate Insurance full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Your team around you share and support you. Location is good to get to. Training is good and tries to develop you. There are some really good people here.

    Cons

Stressed out people who try and guard themselves against management and their crazy demands. Team leaders when not putting stuff up there noses, checking the internet, are on phones or gossiping in corners whilst going to meetings or are scream at everyone to get on phones. They dont develop their teams skills just use them and expect them to develop themselves but feel threaten when they do. Stop demanding more and more with less people to it. Training are trying to develop skills that will never be used. The business seems as if its all about getting the max commissions not the best policies for clients. Promotions are pre planned so only mates get promoted. You dont need to be good at insurance just sucking up. In fact to be a team leader no technical knowledge is needed.

    Advice to Management

Come out of your offices and see why moral is so low. Why are people are leaving and why people want to find other jobs asap. Promote and develop insurance experience and curiousity for team members. An engaged work force is a happy workforce. Stop letting team leaders use the advisors to do their work especially under the guise of its experience for later or for promotions that will never happen. Get some more people in to handle the work load and team leaders that can inspire you to do better, not run to the nearest competitor.

I worked at Towergate Insurance full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Undoubtably the only thing that kept me there was my colleagues. Really good people that work for Towergate. Just a shame they get dumped on from a great height by management.

    Cons

Under paid, they're happy to give you more responsibility but expect you to do it with no pay review. Don't nurture talented individuals. Would rather get schools leavers in than hire experienced individuals all so it cuts costs. Management happy to take huge bonuses, while honest hard work staff, staff who make them their money get a pathetic 1% pay rise (if they're lucky). Management clearly have favourites who get rewarded more than others!!! Systems are pathetic and never given the right tools to do your job. Only getting one star as I can't give 0.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your shop floor staff. After all they are the ones who keep you in power. Fair pay across the board.

I have been working at Towergate Insurance full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Most of the long standing staff are good people. Nothing else really, other than they do pay you your meagre salary every month.

    Cons

Poor salary. No pay rises or bonus resulting from amended Personal Development Review system. Corporate cronies joining every month to make the company appear more corporate and their salary is paid mainly by making numerous hard working, long standing staff redundant.Staff no longer even get a cheap bottle of wine at Christmas, just some pre-written e-mail from the CEO thanking staff for their hard work that they are not rewarded properly for.

    Advice to Management

Stop sitting in your ivory towers on six/seven figure salaries preaching that Towergate is a "great" company to work for and that these are "exciting" times to staff on poor salaries who have not had a pay rise or bonus in three years or more. Invest in central services such as IT and HR and don't cut their numbers to the bone to supposedly save costs - it is a false economy. Just treat staff with more respect and empathy, most of them think that they are merely a number at the bottom of the balance sheet to be played with by senior management when the fancy takes them. Try to understand that making staff redundant affects their lives greatly and a feeble "we do not take these decisions lightly" communication just does not wash with normal people.
