I have been working at The Co-operators full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Have been working for 3 years, and very very little to complain about.

    Cons

Only con, which is not really much of a con, is that they don't tolerate even few minutes being late.

    Advice to Management

    No advice, as they're awesome!!

    I worked at The Co-operators full-time

    Pros

All the below pros are strongly dependent on your location's Agent
    - awesome benefits package
    - good starting wage
    - fantastic team members
    - supportive of education/licensing and training

    Cons

    - management is completely hit or miss as each location is individually managed and 'franchised' by the life insurance agent. They were typically in that position because they are go-getters and sharks, but they are not necessary any good at people management
    - annual wage increases were minimal if at all
    - very sales and revenue focused

I have been working at The Co-operators full-time

    Pros

    It is a unique opportunity.

    Cons

You don't have ownership in what you do and it isn't ever "your" business despite what they sell you on up front. You're an employee. Plain and simple.

    Advice to Management

Be honest about the opportunity, or change the culture to match your promises.

I have been working at The Co-operators full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company has faithful clients and competitive rates.

    Cons

Since advisors are running offices as contract you have to work for one who's fair. No raise in over 5 years and been working over 20 years. No advancement to agency owner or support from district to do so. Family members seem to go further than staff

    Advice to Management

Need district to help those who want to advance in the compay and not forget we too work for the company not just the agent . Not all agents are fair. Recognizing our service and dedication. Making sure the agents are.paying fairly by requesting a copy of wages yearly as well as holding them accountable for educational persuits the staff wishes to persue

I have been working at The Co-operators full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Balanced work culture, good benefits, flexible work times usually, Not pushy sales oriented (yet!), Canadian!, supportive of individual growth and education

    Cons

Office culture could vary greatly from one office to another. Corporate offices (agencies ran directly by the company) should simplify the employee evaluation systems.
Better Actuaries need to be hired to promote competitiveness as they strive for more accurate rates.

    Advice to Management

Company should work harder on adopting new technologies for office automation for both client-facing and Business-facing systems.
Also revise the hiring procedures in place, to be more efficient in order to minmize pressure and frustration of current staff and also cut in costs. Company shoud acertain that new hires have the basic computer and social skills required especifically by this line of work as it is usually held to a relatively higher standard.
