I have been working at Tetra Tech full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good experience working both in the field and carrying out design work. Great people to work with and lots of learning opportunities if you show interest. Good reputation as far as geotechnical engineering goes, therefore general good projects on-the-go.

    Cons

As Junior you certainly start with the grunt field work and have to work your way up. Pay isn't generally amazing, but likely typical for consulting engineering. OT is time-and-a-half, which is a bonus when doing field work!

    Advice to Management

Higher salary means higher worker retention.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Tetra Tech full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

-used to be EBA, had a great reputation in the industry and excellent family friendly feel (work/life balance; understanding of family emergency; etc)
-currently has management that is quite understanding of personal emergency (provided clear communication & updates)
-encourages professional development (internal/online training), particularly in down time
-encourages internal research & development projects (eligible for tax deduction)

    Cons

-since transitioning entirely to Tt there has a been a significant change in the office dynamic; many people let go & rehired on contract; a real sense that the people here are now just numbers to the greater (American) corporation
-no raises; bonuses; encouragement from greater corporate - this has lead to an exodus of many intermediate and senior people (in addition to those laid off) and an over arching feeling of dread in the office

    Advice to Management

To local management - keep trying to do what you're doing; try to encourage staff retention by encouraging diversification of experience and training.

To corporate (American) management - you need to regard the employees at your acquired companies as people, that have families, that have lives outside work, that work very hard for the company and will continue to do so with encouragement not with hard lines on chargeability and little relief for the few existing staff.

I worked at Tetra Tech full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Good benefits and overtime
    - Experience on different types of projects

    Cons

    - Under appreciate staff
    - Poor communication
    - Project managers hoard work and don't manage projects well
    - Managers have favorite and do a poor job of manager staffing resources for projects
    - Senior staff will openly throw staff under the bus
    - Environmental senior staff are questionable with their technical capabilities.
    - Rates are very high for the sub par quality of work provided to clients and reports are almost always late.
    - Management care more about project margins and profitability than anything else. Pressure from corporate in the US about money. Staff are just numbers
    - Managers don't address issues and rather let it slide and not deal with it.
    - Little to no acknowledgement and no incentive for staff doing good, hard work. No action taken for staff that are continuously late on projects or who do a poor job.
    - Senior staff will take all the credit for junior staffs' work when the senior had no input to project.
    - No opportunity to move up in the company.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff and be completely open about everything. Stop being snakes in the bushes and keeping staff out of the loop about things going on. Keep your promises on upcoming work and not pull staff off projects last minute; we have personal lives and schedules too.
