    Pros

Great people to work with. Organization has fair share of opportunities to advance. they were slightly above average for salary and they have a great benefits policy. They also give opportunity to buy reps car after lease expiry.

    Cons

Their pipeline is questionable. They started off as Byk, then Altana, then Takeda...

I worked at Takeda Pharmaceuticals full-time

    Pros

There are many pros about the organization which include the people, the location, the total compensation and the products.

    Cons

The President/ General Manager is a critical one in setting the culture for the organization. CP has never demonstrated Takeda's values of fairness, integrity, honesty and respect. He is a narcissist, cannot make decisions and only likes to hear himself talk. There has never been an occasion when he has shown either care or respect to employees. The culture in Canada can only be described as grossly toxic. The good people are continuously looking for opportunities outside of the organization and where top talent has left, the positions remain open and unfilled leaving it up to those left behind to fill the gaps.

    Advice to Management

The global management of the organization needs to pay attention to the corporate culture survey which clearly tell a story. Further, the organization as a whole needs to do a much better job of vetting candidates for this important role. There needs to be swift action taken. The perception throughout is that the values of the organization are not being lived and no one is doing anything about it. Please reignite the passion within the organization; stop the turnover and return the organization to what it should be - one that is living Takeda's values. With this, you will be able to recruit and retain top talent.

I worked at Takeda Pharmaceuticals full-time

    Pros

    - the two newly launched products are impressive
    - good benefits and perks

    Cons

    - The new local leadership team is 'hit and miss', with the biggest miss at the GM level. They speak of being responsive, reacting quickly, and empowering people to make decisions. the exact opposite is true: micromanagement and analysis paralysis reign supreme
    - Talent development is focused on external candidates, internal development receives lip service. Most openings have been filled with external hires, some were not even advertised internally and strong internal candidates are often overlooked
    - Organization is becoming top heavy and more concerned with well said rather than well done. Buzz words have taken the place of plain language, and those tasked with getting things done are becoming fewer and fewer.

    Advice to Management

If profitability target set by global is the main concern, reassess the grandiose vision being pushed from Canadian leadership. Canada does not have the capacity to support this, irrespective of headcount reductions in primary care.

I have been working at Takeda Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Colleagues, salary & benefits, products. Takeda has a good portfolio of products and the recent acquisition of Ariad will help.

    Cons

Current leader Chatrick Paul. Came in and impatiently fired the local leadership team he inherited. They were the same leadership team that helped make Takeda successful in Canada. He lost much respect with rank and file following that move, and looks unlikely to restore it any time soon.

    Advice to Management

Improve screening for Country General Management. It's an important position. Has to be someone who lives Takeda values and respects employees. High integrity and respect for others needs to be a mandatory requirement for all employees including GMs. No one should be allowed to compromise that. Stop employee churn. Improve organic development and employee retention.

I worked at Takeda Pharmaceuticals full-time

    Pros

Piror to mid 2015, Takeda Canada (and previously Nycomed / Altana) was a very successful company with an excellent culture and strong, consistent, respectful leadership. Good products. Some very good people.

    Cons

New and very junior CEO (C.P.) is in way over his head. Narcissistic, arrogant and lacking in emotional intelligence and self awareness. Only interested in hearing himself speak. Disrespectful to almost everyone. This new leadership has ruined a great culture in record time. Most good people have left or are actively looking to leave.

    Advice to Management

Upper management has turned a blind eye and deaf ear to this disaster. Time to step in and take the pulse of employees. Likely too late for most. Damage is done.

I have been working at Takeda Pharmaceuticals full-time

    Pros

Some really great people. Specialty products are of high quality. Some very good benefits.

    Cons

Painful transformation underway with a GM who says one thing and then acts in another fashion behind closed doors. Many very great people have left or have been let go during this transformation as the pressure is immense on current organization.

    Advice to Management

CEO needs to Start practicing what you preach and treating people with respect. It is time to speak honestly and frankly about past inconsistencies in communication. Leaders lead from the front.

    Pros

Great people who want to excel at their job while learning new skills.

    Cons

The new GM lacks leadership and acts as though he has not led a large multi functional team before. He also needs to improve his ability to communicate especially when providing feedback. His approach is perceived as demoralizing rather than inspiring.

    Advice to Management

Executive coach for new GM. The management team needs to put differences aside to help patients more.

I have been working at Takeda Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people are the main reason that people stay at Takeda...however that is changing as really exceptional talent is leaving faster than they can hire. Positions are open for months on end.....nobody appears good enough for the new leadership...who is way out of his depth.

    Cons

The new leadership is exceptionally poor, inexperienced and only wants to hear himself speak. The atmosphere is very toxic and most are actively looking for work elsewhere. The company's reputation is sinking fast - and this will translate into lower performance - maybe then this will get fixed....

    Advice to Management

Take a good look at what is going on in Canada - seek out information from those still there.....

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Takeda Pharmaceuticals full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This company has some amazing people, though they are leaving very quickly. As ALTANA / Nycomed, it was at one time the premier company in Canada; Amazing culture, super successful brands, strong leadership with an open door policy. The company has never paid well (we aim for 50th percentile), but people stayed for years and it has enjoyed one of the lowest voluntary departure rates in the industry despite that.

    Cons

The company recently took out numerous leaders including the previous CEO who was a proven leader with a long history of strong success. New CEO C. Paul is an unbelievable narcissist. He has minimal people skills and has never even made an attempt to meet his employees in the office. He has fired the few great people that remained in the last month. It's amazing this guy has been given a role so clearly not within his skill-set. I am looking for another job pronto. All my coworkers are dying to get out of here too.

    Advice to Management

Time to do a survey. Get some feedback from all employees. So many have felt personally attacked in the past few months. Get CEO a coach. He really needs help connecting with people. He is despised by the entire organization. He has absolutely no ability to listen. Few leaders succeed when they are despised - it's a company, not a communist dictatorship.
