I worked at TD part-time for more than a year

    Pros

I was lucky enough to have a very supportive team. Since branch banking requires collaborative efforts between colleagues, this increased team morale and overall employee happiness. Duties can be challenging at first, but after repetitions it gets easier and more natural. Overall a wonderful experience.

    Cons

Onboarding to the role was a little ambiguous and confusing since there wasn't too much guidance.

    Advice to Management

Better onboarding training for new employees.

I have been working at TD full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - learn skills that you can use to grow your career - fun place to work - benefits and vacation time are a plus - working day hours are great, never have to work too late into the evening so you can enjoy yourself, a few weekends off per month, all major holidays off often with an extra day

    Cons

    - depending on the size of your branch, you may not be coached too much by managers, have to self initiate most learning, which may or may not be a problem for you - often times putting in more time than what you're getting paid for

I have been working at TD full-time

    Pros

If you are willing to be cutthroat, step on your colleagues & do whatever you need to do to have the best scorecard, you can win trips, bonuses & get promoted to the department & position you want. The benefits are decent, but Manulife is resistant to approve claims & slow to pay.

    Cons

It is VERY competitive & stressful & you MUST be the best to be considered for a promotion. You have to apply (or bid) for your schedule each year based on your previous year's performance. Your schedule is never safe, you could end up working 4- midnight Thurs - Tues, even after 10 years of loyalty. The insurance company they use refuses more claims than they approve. Everyone has to appeal their claims at least...

    Advice to Management

Stop making staff beg for/compete for our schedule which dictates our life. Seniority should count for more (it would if we were unionized) Change insurance companies! Work with the insurance company so that people with claims have more than 7 days to get their DRs to complete forms (that is ridiculous), and they don't go with income during the claims process. Your staff should not be destitute because of your inability...

I worked at TD full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Coworkers, specifically tellers, are incredible, less experience needed than other banks, 7 day week fits into student schedule. Some managers will be a lifelong resource and friend. Lots of opportunity to progress.

    Cons

The bad managers far outweigh the good. You will be asked to do things that break your licensing and break ethical standards. You belong to the company, any sort of outside obligation will be treated as poor work ethic. If a manager is upset their reasoning is considered objectively true, ie. when your email is a little sassy and you dont use emoticons you can be reprimanded, on the flip side when you become upset and...

    Advice to Management

It's too late for this company, other than the CEO and Andy Pilkington, as well as many managers of customer service, management is broken.

I worked at TD part-time for more than a year

      Pros

Really encouraging environment and team oriented work place. A lot events to connect and learn about the company.

      Cons

Sales and targets required to meet every quarter and sometimes certain tasks may take way longer than necessary despite fully book schedule. Might have to work a lot of overtime sometimes not paid to meet deadlines.

      Advice to Management

Encourage to learn about the employee's endeavours and help build skills for them to move forward and develop in their professional career path. Also have random quizzes and what not to help employees refresh and learn about compliance.

I have been working at TD full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

Great work/life balance, great benefits that start at min 15 hours of work a week, company integrity.

      Cons

TD is restructuring branch positions as well as how performance is measured. Large sales pressure due to unreasonable goals. It is a work in progress.

      Advice to Management

Lower sales goals during transition so staff can feel encouraged and successful rather than stressed, frustrated and confused. Over half of the sales staff at my TD branch are applying for different jobs.
