I have been working at Superior Glove Works full-time

    Pros

There are a lot of great individuals who are positive and fun to work with. These people would be fun to work with anywhere though. They are not positive because they work at Superior Glove. Superior Glove is positive because these individuals work there.

    Cons

The company prides itself on it's family values, but treats employees like numbers. It's a very strong "do as I say, not as I do" management mentality. Micromanagement rules this office, even if you are exceeding your targets, someone will be lurking over you ensuring that you're still working one something else (with no additional compensation).

Manager doesn't lead from the front. Couldn't even tell you how to do most jobs of the people they supposedly manage.

Not a give and take atmosphere. They expect everything, and will do anything they can to give as little as they can back.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate and trust your employees more. You are giving your workers incredible experience, training, and industry knowledge. They are just going to soak up what they can, and move onto a company that will better appreciate them.

    Pros

People are friendly. The company is continually expanding - there's no shortage of work.

The management team is very approachable and are always open to ideas.

They offer a descent benefits package and yearly bonuses.

    Cons

No flexible hours and no paid sick days. Employees are penalized for being late - these are all tagged as incidents by HR.

    Medical benefits are capped.

    Advice to Management

Allow 20 - 25 hours a year for appointments and sick days per employee.

I worked at Superior Glove Works full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good family environment. Rapid growth and very focused on innovation. A mostly positive team. If you have a young family and live in the area it's the only place to work.

    Cons

The company has grown so quickly that many crucial steps in internal structure and policy have been overlooked. Compensation is well below industry average.
Some department heads micro manage staff to the breaking point.
    No paid sick time.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees. Pay them fairly and pay for some sick time. If you do these 3 things well, it will pay off in the ability to attract talent and keep it.

    Pros

This is honestly the best company I've ever worked for. It's like working for a big family, everyone works well together and offers a lot of support. The President and VP are very approachable, and are always looking for feedback on how to make the company stronger. Employees are shown value in many different ways throughout the year. At Christmas, they had a big lunch party for the entire staff with an all you can eat Chinese food buffet...gave everyone a Turkey for Christmas, and other goodies. The company also supports the local community both in Acton, Ontario and also in Point Leamington NL. There's also a great work-life balance, structured schedule, and every Friday we work until 4pm (it really gets people motivated on a Friday!). Working for a company that really cares about their employees is hard to find, so I really feel like I've struck a gold mine getting a job here!

    Cons

I don't believe there are any cons working here!

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing, you really make employees feel valued! :)

I have been working at Superior Glove Works full-time

    Pros

Close to home, family feel, job security, treated like a family member. The president take all employees out for lunch and a walk or a tour on regular basis (loved the velodrome).

    Cons

Under staffed and over worked (this may not be a con though) working conditions need a little revamping to better meet employee needs.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the new open discussion policy and expand more where applicable. It is well received by all employees.
