Pros
Worked in a small clinic outside of Sunnybrook. Amazing place to work; was sad to see it close.
Cons
Long commute, sometimes struggled with scheduling.
- Current Employee, more than 5 years★★★★★
Pros
Lots of great/smart people work at Sunnybrook - makes coming to work engaging Competitive salary
Cons
Not a strong Professional Practice Leader
- Current Contractor, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
- High levels of trust - Flexible working hours - Constant challenging work environment around other intelligent individuals - Great team environment that thrives to help each other out - Inclusive community - Great benefits - Forefront of building new technology and research with a strong history of implementation into healthcare
Cons
- Fixed research pay (unless you take on more projects) and not much room for promotion in research unless you get your Ph.D. and work towards becoming a Principal Investigator (PI). - My specific team needs an upgrade in technology to improve the company atmosphere and speed of work. Some teams at Sunnybrook have new computers and some are still very old. - My team works in shared spaces which can become noisy at times and distracting for productivity - Communication on my team for deliverables and quarterly reviews with management would be helpful for self-improvement.

Pros
Earning your job experience with Sunnybrook laboratory to step into the world of laboratory healthcare practice is one way. You can get all the experience you need.
Cons
It’s a big company and employees have union that does only take money and do nothing. Salary rarely or not even go up. They pay lab techs less and they are the Lesser salary among hospitals in Toronto. Full-time is hard to get as it is based on seniority.
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros

Cons

- Current Employee, less than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
I appreciate the team culture and overall support I receive from the Sunnybrook team. Orientation was thorough.
Cons
Work hours may not be ideal for some people, including late evening and overnight shifts.
- Former Employee★★★★★
Pros
the Team of incredible doctors
Cons
commute to sunnybrook from the city was very long
- Current Employee★★★★★
Pros
Great facilities. Lots of great research and very practical projects. Compared to pure academic research, Sunnybrook encourages his staff to do research with a strong focus on knowledge translation and direct clinical applications. Being within the hospital site also helps having access to data, patient and clinician's expertise to accelerate the development of a variety of research projects.
Cons
Like any other large hospital institutions, there is a little too much bureaucracy involved with respect to having access to certain data or facilities, and certain technical resources can sometimes be hard to reach. Due to high securities, remote work can also be very difficult as access the Sunnybrook network requires a lot permissions.
- Current Employee, more than 5 years★★★★★
Pros
Great benefit and pension plans for full-time employees - even if only temporary!
Cons
It really depends who your direct supervisor/boss is in regards to the job specifics. Takes a really long time to get to Sunnybrook by transit and by car.
- Former Employee★★★★★
Pros
There is no other hospital like Sunnybrook. Being an academic institution puts you in touch with very knowledgeable health care professionals.
Cons
Located far and hard to get to
