I worked at Suncor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Well positioned to succeed in the future
    Competent CEO
    Good benefits package

    Cons

    Inefficient/complacent staff
    Ineffective middle management

As in many large companies, leaders set great values & visions for the company but don't necessarily have a reliable way to ensure management upholds these values. Mid-year & annual performance reviews are done to align the company, but many managers see this as a formality. They don't use the opportunity to set ambitious goals to create value or grow. I've been told by management that personal ratings are not based on whether you achieve or exceed your goals, but rather are predetermined, by pecking order, to justify promotions (that are often based on tenure, not capability). This of course depends on the group you're in. Some are excellent, some are stifling.

    Advice to Management

The executive team should find a better tool to make sure teams are aligned with the overall company vision & strategy.

Oftentimes, managers will outwardly support company vision, speaking to all the initiatives they've taken in those directions; when in reality, they've only started these things to be able to SAY their aligned with the company, showing one face to their superiors & another to their direct reports.
