    Pros

Safety is the first priority. Great positive atmosphere to work in. Leaders are very approachable and listen to what people have to say. Excellent opportunities to learn and develop. A company that cares about the environment, future and employees.

    Cons

I have not heard of any comments from peers or management to support any negative feedback.

    Advice to Management

    Keep raising the bar!

I worked at Suncor full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

During the high oil times, company was rewarding and offered good benefits. Working environment was good and safety always at the forefront of operations. Starting off in EIT programs offered good opportunities to get as much experience as possible.

    Cons

Once oil prices dropped, employees just became a number. Bean counters in corporate took over and decimated the workforce to bare minimum. Culture really shows during bad times. It's unfortunate as this was a great company to work for but when push comes to shove, poor management decisions ultimately took over.

    Advice to Management

A good company pushes through good and bad times, together with their employees. Remember that next time.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Suncor full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    great people,
    large company with many opportunities

    Cons

    no clear direction
not a fun place to be anymore
senior leaders looking out for themselves, not for their employees

    Advice to Management

get your act together, start "honestly" respecting and valuing your employees before all the good ones go. All work and no play makes Jack a very dull boy (and Jill a very dull girl..)

I worked at Suncor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great pay, looks good on your resume. I don't have anything else I can really add to this box.

    Cons

Management is completely disconnected from the workforce. Incompetence is not punished, but rahter rewarded.

I worked at Suncor (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great culture
    - Rotational aspect is great for developing as a business generalist
    - All positions are high value

    Cons

    - Mobility could be a concern for those not willing to move (lateral moves will be more likely here)
    - Culture and job security really depends on oil market in general
    - Depending on the role, there can be long hours

    Advice to Management

The company could be more of a progressive culture and at times it still feels like "The Old Boy's Club". Very little representation of anyone other than older Caucasian men at the executive level. Corporate communication also lacks transparency.

I have been working at Suncor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great opportunities, lots of great people. structure in the workplace is well thought out and the training program is in depth - albeit not completely finalized.

    Cons

Fort Hills needs improvement in HR policies on vacation, travel from hubs & the "annual incentive" isn't a performance bonus as much as they would like you to think it is based on your personal achievements and effort.

    Advice to Management

Make the annual incentive individually based. It was portrayed as a performance bonus during the hiring and onboarding, you call this a "pay for performance" site - make it so! Other than that.. keep up the great work.

    I worked at Suncor full-time

    Pros

Great colleagues, some groups are great to work with. Great bonus. Pay can be competitive.

    Cons

Management unfair. People get away with bullying in the office. Need thick skin to make it. Because its such a large company no two teams are the same.

    Advice to Management

Take your employees concerns and complaints seriously.
