    Pros

Largest oil company in Canada where an employer is able to develop professionally through experience from world class professionals

    Cons

As may be found in other organizations, your progress and job security depends wholly on your leader and not the HR department irrespective of your yearly performance.

    Advice to Management

The above cons should be viewed seriously for a remedy, to save so many hardworking employees, who may be victims of unfair treatment by their leaders

I have been working at Suncor full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Total compensation, job security, excellent overall management, challenging work supported by great coworkers.

    Cons

Limited opportunity for upward mobility, flattening of organization leading to reduced compensation, it's more about how loud you say things rather than what you have to say.

    Advice to Management

Please consider revoking the excessive control being granted HR as they are reducing the effectiveness of the company.

I worked at Suncor full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay and long term incentives.
    Job stabiity

    Cons

Hotel rooming even though site is your "home" 6 months of the year. Can't even share rooms with your cross-shift
Too many silos. People are unwilling to do anything outside of their job description.

    Advice to Management

Managers should be promoted from within based on merit and ability. As a leader, you should not ask a direct report to do something that you wouldn't be willing to do yourself. Lead by example. If there is a problem, be prepared to "pull up a chair" and not cheerlead from the back.

    Pros

Professional environment, well paced, good people, good systems and processes, excellent emphasis on safety.

    Cons

Some Incompetent spineless leaders only focused on blaming others for covering their lack of basic knowledge. Its astonishing how some continue to get away with it again and again. Its sad to see such an organisation go down this path...

I have been working at Suncor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people are amazing and respectful. The environment is supportive. The values are safety. There are TONS of opportunities at Suncor and they encourage and help you try new roles to round you out and find what you like best. Suncor is really a wonderful place to work.

    Cons

Some sites are remote and require a fly-in-fly-out shift schedule. It can be a lot of traveling and working away from home can be tough. Fly-in-fly-out employees receive an additional bonus

I worked at Suncor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits and decent amount of PTO’s even though you work an extra 1/2 hour per day for them!

    Cons

Terrible culture. Mid Level Managers are treated with no respect. Employees are treated literally as numbers and not recognized for experience or efforts!

    Advice to Management

Look at streamlining of a lot of the managers and directors as they are basically doing the same role! Consolidate this to one role!
