I worked at SunTrust full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Holidays off, bank hours, and benefits.

    Cons

Short staffed, Sales at the expense of the client. Employees will do shady stuff to get sales (Seen it happen in multiple locations). Management doesn't know what they are doing. They hire outside of the bank to fill positions and the current employees have to do work outside their job title. I worked over time for over a year because of short staffing. The teller systems are so outdated it's ridiculous.

I have been working at SunTrust full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Benefits are nice (healthcare, vision & dental insurance, 401(k) match, banking perks). In branch banking, you never have to work Sundays, and if you do work a Saturday, it's only a half day. The company is purpose-driven and emphasizes the importance of helping clients reach financial wellbeing. There is also a sincere request from employees for ways that the company can be a better place to work (ie. yearly teammate engagement survey and a private online community where teammates discuss things that could be introduced or reworked to improve experience).

    Cons

The pay is not great which contradicts the mission of working toward financial confidence. Higher ups are extremely pushy when it comes to sales, and while goals have been lowered after the Wells Fargo scandal, the pressure is still there. There is also a failure to address problem employees who routinely start drama. The company is more focused on general retention than on disciplining or terminating employees who are consistently rude to clients or insubordinate toward their supervisors.

I have been working at SunTrust full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

SunTrust's culture is genuinely designed with the customer's best interest in mind, unlike other large banks. They base their entire approach around meeting clients' needs and moving them to financial confidence.

    Cons

SunTrust has a strong tendency to bring in people from some of the largest banks in the world and adopt their approaches to increasing the bottom line, this unfortunately leads to the message of moving clients to financial confidence getting lost in the drive for ever higher sales numbers.
