I have been working at Sun Life full-time

    Pros

Sun Life does a great job of ensuring that the needs of their employees are taken care of with a competitive benefits and retirement package. They also offer lots of perks to employees including on site cafe's in large locations, a communication system online to work with coworkers, an agile work environment and the ability to work from home in most positions. Job bands are clearly laid out, and fairly articulated as to the incomes, what the positions are and what you would be doing to reach your goal. Through the Brighter Way they are adopting Six Sigma guidelines and best practices, that facilitates an environment of learning and identifies critical pain points that can be fixed to better the member experience. The whole team is committed to excellence, and strives for perfection. They are also consistently looking for feedback from employees on how to better the company, and always look to promote from within first.

    Cons

Parking is paid, which is unusual for KW, and new employees typically cannot park on site until about 1.5 years into their tenure. Although there is a shuttle system in place, this can be challenging for those that need access to their cars.

I worked at Sun Life for more than a year

    Pros

    - Working from home - Relaxed working environment - Decent/helpful people to work with - Great office facilities - Employee discounts (phone provider, plane tickets, etc.)

    Cons

    - No technical work involved (job description specified "Knowledge of iOS and/or Android development"). The job itself was to tell people how to install apps from the App store and check the iPhone "Settings"... all user-end stuff. - The job description also said "Application software testing tools and techniques" which mind you, we did not even make any applications. I did not see a single line of code for this job. The "testing" was mainly to install an app and see if there were any changes to what the user sees and to update documentation... this job is basically an internal "Apple Genius" and a Bell/Rogers/etc. representative within the company - No paid leave
