It's a great charity with passionate people working to embed high quality services for all our service users. A great place to work

I have been working at Sue Ryder part-time

    Pros

Friendly staff, good management, variety of customers, very flexible for volunteers, very good experience and a good chance for a reference for future employers. As a volunteer, I'm treated as part of the team and staff appreciate my time, no matter how much work I put in. I volunteer there 5 hours in one day a week. First few weeks I worked there I helped out with sorting clothes and other items, then I slowly progressed to using the till and serving customers. I now do both, including tidying the shop floor and a variety of other things. I do what I can to help out.

    Cons

No cons, at least none that I can think of!

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I have been working at Sue Ryder full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I love working at Sue Ryder. It can be tough some days but knowing you are helping fund incredible care is totally worth it.
Excellent training programme for new managers and continually supported through my probation period.
Your valued as an employee and made to feel your worth in what you do.
Good salary, holiday entitlement, benefits and flexible working days.
    Lots of freedom and trust.

    Cons

Not really any cons in my time with the company so far.... tight staffing budgets sometimes make it hard to get things done as you rely on your volunteers but Rome wasn't built in a day and there is always tomorrow!

    Advice to Management

Keep listening and providing support and training.

I have been working at Sue Ryder full-time

    Pros

Satisfaction that the charity is now positive and going forward with the leadership that are in place.
Teams are working together now, communication and behaviours are key to the success of the future of working with the company, this is now showing to drive SR to be a place to not only feel that you are making a difference but also a good place to work and be a part of.
    Satisfying work at all levels

    Cons

After 10 years working for the charity, I felt that I had no progression, until 12 months ago and the oppertunity arose that \I could progress.
In the past the charity has not looked at the people they have , and seemed not to listen, or invest in their staff , now, it is different, people do listen and acknowledge that they do need to invest in training on all levels.
The cons therefor are getting less

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to employees, continue to invest in people that have started at the bottom, and ackowledge that the time spent on training and supporting people over the years is in the end a wealth of knowledge and experience that money cannot buy
