I have been working at Straumann full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Strong leadership - Guillaume is a very competent, ethical and visionary executive Company is very successful/growing - fast paced Opportunities for advancement, internal hiring common Straumann hires very talented individuals and only the 'strong' survive the pace so you work with very intelligent, driven peers.

    Cons

Very weak middle management overall - most seemed to have 'ended up' in their position because they were competent in their job but without having a real desire to coach or manage people Work environment is not great: Many departments have no access to natural light or view of the outside world only florescent lighting including accounting, tax, training, education, and marketing. Cubicles are fairly tightly... packed, loud, no privacy. Visitors are impressed by the lobby area but once they get to the work space often comment on how 'depressing' the environment is Turnover and burnout is high due to the workload/pace/hours Only one woman in a VP role even though women are widely represented at the director level. Only two weeks paid maternity leave.

    Advice to Management

Increase flexibility or add more paid time off - if you expect your employees to work long hours in uncomfortable conditions give them the flexibility to work from home or to run errands without using vacation time as needed. Maybe give employees an extra day off for every year with the company instead of the current situation where employees would need to make it 10 years before getting more time off Hire middle... managers with a passion for coaching people and development, not just folks that are technically strong.

    Pros

The job was very challenging which is what I enjoy.

    Cons

Growing pains in all departments; not necessarily a bad thing though.

    Advice to Management

Employee turnover needed to be addressed when I was there; hopefully resolved now.

I have been working at Straumann

    Pros

Excellent benefits and very smart, friendly colleagues. Excellent product line. Strong manufacturing company. People in the manufacturing side stay for ever. Very little turnover.

    Cons

Systems need to be updated to handle the workload. People are moving on to other positions at other companies that are more equipped to handle day to day workloads without all the stress. Outside rep.s have too much on their plate to really focus on and grow existing business and bring in new business. Company expects way too much of each employee. Company has been trying to bring about a better culture but it's... not working. Culture begins at the top.

    Advice to Management

Update technology. Don't expect so much from your employees. Burn out is real and in the current job market, there are lots of other opportunities that you are losing strong, intelligent employees to. We can be great again.

    Pros

    Cons

If you aren't a friend of someone in management, good luck moving up If you start as a temp, expect to stay a temp for as long as they can keep you one. Beware of racism.

I have been working at Straumann full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great opportunities Excellent benefits Good intentions when it comes to a corporate culture

    Cons

Terrible communication between departments Product launches best described as sending the cart before the horse An actual culture of finger pointing and shifting blame

    Advice to Management

Accountability. There has to be accountability. Promises are being made by people that don’t have to fulfill them, and that kind of environment breeds bitterness and resentment across the entire company.
