      Cons

Pay seems to be a little substandard compared to other Fortune 500 opportunities

        Pros

You will get to meet so many awesome people!!! The culture at this company is exactly what you would imagine but better. You won't feel like an intern here but like a full-time employee. All of the projects I have been given have made me feel like I am actually making an impact on the company. The flight benefits aren't too bad either and you will make lifelong friends traveling with other interns. There are so many opportunities for interns to meet with employees one on one and get to know them and their southwest journey. Great networking opportunities and everyone is so excited to watch you grow and succeed.

        Cons

I have two cons for this internship. The first being lack of communication from campus reach and our main contacts. they always seemed to be out of office or unable to provide clear responses. They are very busy but for being in charge of this internship they seem to be worried about other things. If they are our main point of contact over these 12 weeks, you think they would be more available. My second con is the lack of full time offers. Don't expect to receive a full time offer especially if you have another year of school left. For how big of a company, they are they don't have a great intern to full time pipeline which is unfortunate. Super hard to get your foot in the door and they won't hold positions for former interns to come back full time. There were a few interns that even graduated during the internship and were eligible to apply but the problem is that there are no open positions.

          Pros

Travel, flexible hours, company culture is alot of fun.

          Cons

Barely any full time slots for when you leave/finish your internship. I ended up as a contract employee after finishing school. No flight benefits and you get treated much differently in the company than when you are internal/non-contract.

            Pros

I work the ramp and love being outdoors and the work out I get. The flexibility is great and if there is a seat the flight benefit is awesome.

            Cons

The people can be cut throat. You have to watch your back with co-workers. The kool-aid only flows in Dallas. Its a wonderful job, its the people who are not. No union contracts are making people angry. We are well paid if you are a senior agents, most who have only graduated from high school. We get paid to sit in a breakroom with a tv for half our shifts.

Benefits including flight benefits; completely inclusive; culture of work environment; opportunity to work overtime/ trade shifts

                Cons

Lots of MANDATORY overtime especially first year; company comes first but they stress in interview; seniority system in place

                  Pros

Stable employment and you will never worry about being laid off or fired (yes, they will do everything to avoid filling out termination paperwork). Looks great on a resume and will get you in a lot of doors when you look elsewhere. You can gain experience and knowledge quickly if you have the drive and desire to better yourself from day one. Very friendly coworkers. Fun office environment and always relaxed. Casual dress code every day. Flight benefits are great if you're the kind of person who loves to travel with no guarantees.

                  Cons

Southwest likes to promote average employees from within instead of exceptional talent from outside, which is killing the company. Several people become silo'd in their jobs. No emphasis is placed on education and breadth of experience, rather it is based on longevity with the company. Slow career progression and extremely low pay compared to the industry average for certain skill sets. If you only want flight benefits for casual trips, look elsewhere and earn more to be able to buy a guaranteed ticket.

                    Pros

The flight benefits are fantastic as long as you have the patience to deal with some of headaches involved. The Union has your back as long as you have a good rep there for you. Starting pay has gotten better since I started.

                    Cons

You have to give up much of your life for the job with little to no compensation other than overtime pay. What would be considered as a "rewards program" has been stunted to become an electronic way to say, "Thank you" with any kind of bonus or reward handed out by the company directly. Multiple rules and regulations to stunt your advancement or movement within the company leaving you with few options to do so. Union contract negotiations. Mandatory overtime and extensions. The culture is tough as much of the attitude I've come across has been, "Someone else will take care of it". This makes working very tough as this attitude at other locations WILL affect you at any given time. Work load doesn't seem fair at times with some giving more work than others. Union contract gives us the benefit of seniority but with so many rules surrounding that benefit, it can get muddled and difficult to understand at times leaving us feeling as though seniority isn't being followed when it comes to being handed any kind of mandatory overtime.

                        Pros

Culture is the greatest selling point. Process is still being evolved and no real difference between contractors and employees other than the obvious things such as flight benefits etc ...

                        Cons

If you are looking for FTE in Technology this might not be the place to start looking. Outsourcing from Technology seems to be the current plan.

                      Senior Resource Manager

Last Thursday and Friday I interviewed with 2 hiring managers for 2 different companies. Both of them said they’d like me to progress to the next interview and the recruiter would reach out. One company said they wanted a offer out this month so it would be a quick process. I sent thank you emails and references. I haven’t heard from either recruiter. I had the recruiter screening and hiring manager interview just days apart, I thought I’d hear back by now. Thoughts?!
