    Pros

Lovely people, sociable team Clear business goals and strategy Good site with amenities

    Cons

Difficult to advance your career if you are a female Patriarchy Some senior management are not suited to be in their positions - progression seems to be based on brown-nosing and patriarchal politics not acumen and talent Lack of trust in some Management Teams

  3. "Avoid if you're aan ambitious female who wants to progress - sexism is widespread"

I have been working at Sony Electronics full-time

    Pros

Good products Nice working environment Lovely team of people at mid-junior level

    Cons

Widespread sexism - females in the office are quizzed about 'family plans' by senior management and speculative judgements held by mostly senior Japanese management toward working mothers. If you are a female, have children, are married and of childbearing age you will be judged if you want to move into a new role or progress your career in the business. There have been several cases in the past year where female co-workers were told either; a) that an internal vacancy was not right for them by the hiring manager because they were married, b) that a working mother would not have any career progression if she decided to choose part-time working hours (equating to 30hrs/week) , c) a female employee made to feel she owed an apology to Management for attempting to move roles internally whilst pregnant d) female employees asked about their family plans and whether they are planning any children by Senior Management.

I have been working at Sony Electronics full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Products, employee benefits (=Pension, Healthcare, Bonus).

    Cons

Micro-management, no trust amongst senior management and staff, hire people and then tell them what to do rather than listen to experienced practitioners. Demotivated team members and no linear career progression especially if female. Questionable HR practices by hiring people who are inexperienced but Japanese. As a result brand is suffering horrendously. Long working hours with no gratitude. No flexible working. Avoid at all costs.

    I worked at Sony Electronics

    Pros

Fun place to work and nice environment with Co workers, Pay and benefits are above average for Miami Area. Leading company in their segment with a lot to learn. products are the best in every segment.

    Cons

Electronic business is going down as a whole, and management is too too shy to make the right decisions to get back in the game. there is also a ceiling in your professional growth, since all Senior Management comes from Japan. HR does not have a saying in decisions taken by senior management.

I worked at Sony Electronics full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Nice offices with fitness center, on-site cafeteria, Star Bucks and covered parking garage. Some attempt to make it a fun place to work with "take your kid to work day", free movie screenings, some product discounts, etc.

    Cons

Very limited local decision making which makes the company slow to respond to competition or changing consumer demands. Seems like the engineers/product designers in Tokyo determine what cool gadgets to make without much input from world market consumers. Senior management has very little financial decision making authority so everything gets analyzed to death up the food chain to Tokyo.

I worked at Sony Electronics full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Very nice compensation packages and product discounts were one of the main draws to the organization. Experience working with different departments help cultivate togetherness.

    Cons

Different management styles were causing friction among everyone in the department caused decline of morale. Favoritism was a main issue that was brought up to senior management and they just continued the course.

I worked at Sony Electronics full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The pay and work environment were good. The people were friendly, loyal to Sony and dedicated to working hard.

    Cons

The senior management team is absolutely clueless on how to bounce back from one dramatic setback after another. Samsung, LG, Apple, Beats and more are eating what used to be Sony's lunch and nobody knows what to do to stop the trend. Japanese management remains clueless to what resonates in the American market.
