I worked at Société Générale full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Great physical location - Good first programming job: Some managers are great and open to suggestions, thus allowing some employees a lot of freedom when it comes to architecting/designing applications. If part of a team, this can be a good learning experience - A lot of organized events (e.g. AWS workshop)

    Cons

    - Open office - Constant phone ringing - A lot of time wasted waiting on permissions to be given and resources to be supplied - Absurdly small laptop - No admin on laptops, only "approved" software can be installed- Past a certain point, the only way to get a higher salary is by becoming a manager and filling your schedule with meetings, thus leaving you with no time to code. - Low salary - Some employees aren't given tasks they're qualified for. One of my co-workers left because as a data scientist, he was asked to do a lot of front-end development.

    November 2, 2017L'Equipe Recrutement

We are very surprised by your feedback. Any termination of employment related to pregnancy would be inappropriate, and also illegal, and against Société Generale’s HR policy. We will share your comment with the HR team in Canada. The Recruitment Team

I worked at Société Générale full-time

    Pros

People are very intelligent, friendly, and good at what they do. French culture makes it a bit laid back compared to what you normally would think of a bank.

    Cons

The incentive structure promotes pumping the pipeline full of new initiatives rather than optimizing old ones or keeping the greater context of the bank in perspective.
