I worked at Société Générale full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I worked at Société Générale full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    * Great colleagues to work with and learn from. * Interesting challenges if you are in the right team and have a good manager like I had that let's you experiment. * Can do business trips to Paris, NYC, etc.

    Cons

    1. Management promotes a culture of mediocrity instead of promoting a culture of innovation. Management prefers "yes men/women" who do what they are told instead of people who can challenge decisions to make the product and processes better. 2. There is almost no way to be promoted. 95% promotions are filled from expats from France. The company absolutely has no vision for their employees not working in the head office. Often, these people do not understand North American work culture and try to force their management style that does not work in this context. 3. All good employees are leaving because they can't handle the bad decisions from the management anymore. 4. You get promoted in the middle of the year to team lead? Congratulations. You will have more responsibilities and there is a high chance that you won't get a raise until the next year. 5. HR department is completely invisible, we aren't even sure if we have one.
