Pros
I always ask my candidates to assess an opportunity by reviewing their ability to collaborate with the team and consider what they will learn from that team, how they feel about the role and the potential for long term growth to fit their career goals, and how they feel about the company and it's mission and products. As I ask others to do this everyday, it is only fair that I make the same assessment. Here is my review: People: I work with people that bring a diversity of skillsets to their roles. The engineers are open, transparent, and easy to collaborate with. My colleagues value my input despite my background being a little bit different. Position: My role is ever evolving and stays at the cusp of challenge that keeps me ever engaged. I am able to leverage what I enjoy most about my role: having real conversations with people about what they want from their careers and leading them to the decisions that will best serve them. I have the freedom to put my candidates interest ahead of all, and I work for a company where more often than not, we provide the best option available Product/Mission: We are democratizing finance. I truly believe that an equitable society can only be achieved when everyone has access to information that will aid them in making decisions that lead them towards achieving financial independence. This is where I want to be for the foreseeable future.
Cons
Continue to favor processes that prioritize open communication over forms.
Our recruiting team plays such a critical role in building the future of SoFi - so thank for being on this journey with us, and for taking the time to leave such a comprehensive review of your experience. You reference a few of the things that we believe differentiates SoFi from other companies in the finance and tech spaces - our incredibly smart, respectful employees, the opportunities to learn and grow, and of course our comprehensive product suite and a mission that's easy to get behind. The chance to create processes that will help our organize scale is always something we are continuing to iterate on. Thanks again for the review, and for all you do to help us hire the best talent to support our ambitious goals. Take care.

SoFi *USED* to be great until they became a public bank
Apr 27, 2023 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
**The pros mainly start when you are NOT in a customer facing role -Great pay -Good work life balance -Good health benefits -Love my current departments team
Cons
If you are looking to join SoFi, you might wanna read this. Your journey will not be an easy one if you are looking to grow. -COMMUNICATION LACKS. This is the biggest opportunity for SoFi. Upper management does NOT pass down changes or updates that are coming. EX: Customer Service doesn't learn about a promotion until DAY of and AFTER a customer mentions it when they call in. -Training is sped up leaving very little time to actually learn the ins and outs of your role. There is no test environment meaning very little hands on learning. Training feels like it sets you up for failure when you leave training and need to apply your "learning" to real life scenarios. If you are not in a customer facing role, you end up having to correct a LOT of the mistakes Customer Service makes from lack of training. -SoFi has begun hiring externally through 3rd party sites meaning you are now working with individuals who do NOT know SoFi and who do NOT have any previous banking experience. There are also language barriers and very little room for growth due to the mass amounts of external hiring. -If you're looking for feedback and criticism to grow, management is NOT involved enough. Most managers are sitting in meetings when they should be more hands on with their team.

We sincerely appreciate your candid, honest feedback - it's the only way we will continue to improve and achieve our ambitions of becoming a 'best place to work' caliber company. We're happy to hear you have a good work/life balance, feel your pay and benefits are competitive, and are enjoying your team. That said, most of your comments are troubling to hear. We know that we have an opportunity to improve communication amongst teams - it is a topic that has come up on our most recent engagement survey, and please know that our Comms team is working hard to get to the truth on this so we can have a scalable solution. One potential solution is investing in a new intranet, which we are investigating now for a potential roll out later in the year. The growth of the company and industry means that we have to be adaptable and flexible; however, we want to make sure our front-line employees are set up for success. Our Learning & Delivery team is always looking to improve how we train employees, so we encourage you to share your feedback directly with them. Additionally, I have shared your feedback with our Business Partner leadership team so we can further address your concerns. That said, we'd love the opportunity to discuss your concerns 1:1 so we can improve your experience. If you're open to it, you can set up a meeting with us by reaching out to your PBP or emailing me at glassdoor@sofi.org. We hope to continue this conversation so we can do better by you!

Decent job if you like talking on phones all day
May 15, 2023 - Originations SpecialistRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Pay is ok, but could be better.
Cons
Decent job except for the hectic days of back to back calls. It can be rough when you get unruly customers and then on top of that you are on back to back calls. Need to staff certain days better so the turnover rate will be lower. I’m hoping that moving up in the company will be possible later on. Wish they had a 401K employer match, kinda weird that a company this large doesn’t yet. Scorecards are done kinda weird and if you don’t pass at the percentage for things like adherence and call surveys, you just get a zero for those and hope the other stats can make up for it. I’m worried for when they are moving some people to different positions in June. Then I feel we will be very understaffed again. We’ll see how it goes.

Thank you for being on this journey with us, and for taking the time to leave a review of your experience! We're happy to hear that overall, you are enjoying working at SoFi. We frequently review employee compensation to ensure it is fair and competitive based on external market data and individual performance. Additionally, we have a semi-annual performance check-in program where bonus payouts are determined by individual performance. We hear you on the 401k match and rest assured this is top of mind for our Benefits team as we continue to evaluate our benefit offerings. You may know that this year we have formalized an Internal Mobility program, which is designed to help our employees move around the organization. I'd be happy to put you in touch with the team if you're interested in learning more. Lastly, we aim to create a consistently positive member experience with every interaction, and in order to do so, we set very specific metrics - all employees are provided metrics and evaluated against them on an ongoing basis, with a formal review each quarter. Every employee is held to the same set of metrics and we strive to give everyone the training and tools they need to meet and exceed expectations. If you'd like to continue this conversation, you can reach out to me at glassdoor@sofi.org. Take care.

-Remote and Hybrid Options -Good Benefits -Some Flexibility in schedules
Cons
-Subpar pay (for the amount of work your expected to do) -Upper management only sees data, not the people that work for them. -Upper management creates fake problems to solve to look like a hero -Blatant favoritism -No advancement opportunities for CA employees due to cost -Exhaustive communication review overload with understaffed teams. -Gaslighting is insane -Unrealistic expectations to finish workload leaves us scrambling at the end of each month -Hard to take what little PTO we earn -Managers spout that accountability is being held but anyone can see the inconsistencies in certain team members on a monthly basis. -Upper management doesn’t listen to their employees and is completely unapproachable

First and foremost, thank you for the 9+ years you have dedicated to working at SoFi - wow, what a journey. We have seen an insane amount of change and growth during your time here. We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. That said, we are very disappointed to hear your experience is not meeting your expectations. What you describe is not indicative of the culture we are trying to build nor the work environment we are committed to fostering. We know that building a great culture starts with excellent managers, who are equipped with the skills and support to lead their teams in fair, equitable, and inclusive ways. That's why our manager excellence programs are such a critical part of our L&D journey, and we continue to evolve our offerings to help them develop. With regards to compensation, we frequently review employee compensation to ensure it is fair and competitive based on external market data and individual performance. Lastly, as you may know, this year we launched our formal internal mobility program which is designed to support our employees in growing their careers at SoFi. Used to be the best company out there, but seems to be getting quite corrupt
Apr 20, 2023 - Software EngineerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
* Most of the regular workers are amazing people. Very talented and smart. * Company has a great potential if managed properly. * The pay is still pretty good.
Cons
* Corruption in certain departments from top to bottom: retaliation, people forced out of work via falsified info in performance reviews and HR doesn't investigate the issue * Benefits are continuously slashed * Culture of blame is becoming more and more rampant * There is a list of great SoFi values, but they unfortunately seem to be only on paper when it comes to employees (although not in all departments). I would recommend to be vigilant when choosing to work for SoFi, especially in certain departments (ask around in social media and/or regular workers that work there, whom you can trust).

First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to leave such a candid review of your experience working at SoFi. We see feedback as a gift that will help us to continue to iterate and learn, so thank you. Your comments are not at all indicative of the culture and work environment we are committed to fostering at SoFi. We take your comments very seriously, and we do not condone corruption or retaliation in any kind. Any concerns shared with HR are investigated fully and confidentially. We have an EthicsPoint hotline in which employees are able to lodge a formal complaint at any time. We can also confirm that no benefits have been slashed; in some areas we have expanded benefits and we continue to look for ways to meet the needs of our employees through our comprehensive benefit offerings. If you would like to continue this conversation, feel free to reach out to me at glassdoor@sofi.org. Take care.

Pros
They agency had a pull of funds to increase employee wellness through workplace events which was nice.
Cons
The production based environment did not encourage work and life balance. It was considered shameful to take needed breaks unless you were above and beyond your work duties. Team togetherness was strong; however, it was very much a bond built through shared stress of the workplace. I wouldn't recommended working here unless you thrive off of fast pace work environments and wish to have work be a priority within your life.

Hi there, and thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We're very sorry to hear your time at SoFi didn't meet your expectations. Our CLR team is an absolutely critical part of our mission to help our members achieve financial independence, so thank you for the time you dedicated to working here. Our goal is to create the best customer service in the industry, which means we are committed to ensuring our team members are available at all times of the day to address our members' needs. That said, we truly believe that our people are our biggest differentiator, and if we take care of them they will take care of our members. Our Workforce Management team regularly looks at data to anticipate when members will contact us, and we staff our team (and breaks) according to the demand. We hope you felt comfortable to voice these concerns to your manager or PBP so we can work to improve the experience for all. But you are right, this is a place where our employees need to enjoy a fast paced, ever-changing work environment in order to thrive, and we understand that's not the right fit for everyone. We really appreciate the feedback, and wish you the best in your next career endeavor.

We're happy to hear you felt your pay and benefits were competitive. That said, most of your comments are troubling to hear.
