    I worked at Singapore Airlines

    Pros

Great ten week training program. Great destinations. Great hotel accommodations during layovers. Very safe airline. Computer system will generate rosters for all cabin crew members, so that no matter how junior you are, you are guaranteed each month long haul flights. Teaches you great teamwork, especially when you have to do a meal service on a 1h20min flight from Singapore to Jakarta.

    Cons

Five year contract. You will be forced to resign if by the age of 42 or your third 5-year contract, whichever comes first, you are not promoted to Leading steward/stewardess. Flight stewardesses must resign immediately once they are pregnant. And if they intend to return after giving birth, they must do so within 2 years. No maternity leave. Management has little idea what goes on during the flight.

    Advice to Management

Get reconnected with your cabin crew. And stop encouraging backstabbing.

I worked at Singapore Airlines for more than a year

    Pros

Best paid cabin crew in the industry with one of the widest network of flight destinations in the world. Offer courses to self-upgrade to crew FOC. Though the quality of the courses have been on a decline.

    Cons

Company culture towards crew is horrible. While there is a ladder for you to climb, it is highly structural and you remain a nobody even at the highest rank. Be prepared to work more than the crew of other airlines. Management will not admit it but crew isn't really appreciated in the company. Company has a very ancient asian culture and speaking up and against general direction of higher ups is frowned upon.

I worked at Singapore Airlines full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Lots of fun cabin crew that you can be friends with, easy job, get to travel

    Cons

management is not good to crew well fare, when you are sick you get scared to take MC cause it can mess up promotion etc, you can't take annual leave anytime you want must bid 1 year in advance

    Advice to Management

be more flexible to crew as they are the faces of this company and can ruin your image if you don't take care of them well

    Pros

No Stress after the flight is over, learning curve is steep for first 6 months but life would be more and more comfortable as you get more senior.

    Cons

Welfare not as taken care of, cabin crew always feels that they're dispensable to the company.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Singapore Airlines full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good benefits like medical, dental and travel. Cabin Crew union is better than other companies though staff fail to recognize it

    Cons

Very hierarchical and top down management. Old school thinking with management very looked up to but completely unaware or unconcerned about staff. Detrimental to health and no progression. Sacrifice personal time for work as you are away half or 3/4 of the month.

    Advice to Management

There is a need to give more recognition to the cabin crew who are the reason why the airline made it to where it is today. For a company that banks on customer service to succeed, staff's loyalty is crucial so as to deliver the company's vision.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Singapore Airlines for more than 5 years

    Pros

-Good job to start out, if you can really save -Meet people of all walks from life -decent money -Stay in nice hotels, mind you, not always the 5 stars -Don’t take work home -Total free time after you get off the plane -flood your social media like you’re a rich traveller

    Cons

-Crew culture is horrible, people still living in the 80s. -Toxic mentality of the cabin crew. Most think they’re rich and above everyone else. -not everyone is ready to serve pax. Seen how some people will spit or scrap dirt and put it into food for annoying people -very dirty working environment. I’ve had eye infection multiple times across my time here -it’s a backstabbing community to move up the ranks. Note that this doesn’t apply to everyone but MAJORITY of the people. There are still very nice and humble people just trying to make a decent living here.

    Advice to Management

Maybe these dinosaurs need to wake up their ideas and move to the modern time where everything has changed. CEO makes a very miserable and terrible video to crew talking about changes. No confidences at all. Management likes to spread lies about company losing money and not making profit. As per usual, crew who don’t do their readings will easily buy into that. Stop kneeling down and praying to your premium passengers. When they’ve done something unreasonable, don’t blame the crew unnecessarily. Know the boundaries.
