I have been working at Sierra-Cedar full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

This is a consulting company. If you are talented and relevant to the SCI business offerings, you will stay busy. And you will be well compensated. You will also have a lot of flexibility in the way you manage your piece of the business. You might travel, you might not depending on the contract needs. There are options for everything... compensation structure, 401k, benefits (meh...). Generally people are helpful and supportive, but your interaction with other SCI staff is limited.

    Cons

It's very easy to be on an island. Communication with upper level management is almost non-existent. There is no clearly defined mission for the company to evolve, so I have some concerns about what is on the horizon in the next 5 years as PeopleSoft needs (core business) decline. Professional development is largely driven by the employee's desire, and reimbursement for out of pocket costs will be considered case by case. Corporate standards are cryptic and conveyed by word of mouth, Managers will not have modern tools or the access to data that are part of running today's business. And the benefits... no one chooses the health benefits. $$$$$$ . The 401k is very good, although understanding the model and company investment can be challenging.

"Management Plays Favorites, Gender Discrimination in Sales Support"

    I worked at Sierra-Cedar full-time

    Pros

Pay is competitive, remote work allowed for certain roles

    Cons

Stagnant solution sets need to be expanded beyond PeopleSoft. "Bring your own device" policy is disconcerting & theoretically allows their IT department free reign over your computer anytime, including after working hours. Lines of business are siloed & management fosters office politics and in-crowd fiefdoms. Virtually non-existent opportunities for growth or vertical advancement. If you're not "in" then your contributions are largely ignored and you're essentially cannon fodder for layoffs. Very heavy favoritism and gender discrimination have dominated the sales support part of the business in particular for nearly a decade. Put bluntly, they only hire females. Period. A quick LinkedIn search of their current & former employees with "proposal" or "writer" in their titles gives you a good starting point.

    I worked at Sierra-Cedar full-time

    Pros

The compensation and benefits are good.

    Cons

Management is very top-heavy, authoritative, militaristic, political, and controlling. When a new policy is rolled out, they threaten their employees with unnecessary disliplinary action to ensure compliance. Displays a great deal of favoritism, and if you are not one of their favorites, your hard work will go unnoticed. No room for personal growth. Oh and by the way, they seemed to have taken the advice in one of the below reviews to heart and fired some of their older workers.

I worked at Sierra-Cedar full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Lot's of really good and talented consultants, although the workforce is aging - creating issues due to health and travel.

    Cons

Sr. Management team misread the current reality of the market.
