    Pros

    Laid back environment
    Not a very demanding job

steep learning curve in the beginning since most of the job is manual with standard deffinitions.
    no logic involved
extremely dull after you get the hand of things
if you're stuck with a bad one (and there are a few) then you're pretty much screwed.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Scotiabank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Global company
    - Currently investing in tech

    Cons

    - Senior management is severely out of touch with how cities not named Toronto, Vancouver, or Calgary operate.
    - Culture was toxic; high turnover
    - Career opportunities in Winnipeg were disappearing and almost non-existent if you did not want to be on the sales side.

    Advice to Management

Bring those finance jobs back to Winnipeg!

I have been working at Scotiabank full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with, I have learned a lot and I genuinely enjoy coming to work every day

    Cons

Depending on the department, economic outlook and due to structural rigidity, there is sometimes not a ton of opportunity for growth.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing, just be sure to recognize and promote potential.

I worked at Scotiabank full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There will ALWAYS be tons of job postings at Scotiabank because of the high turnover and the toxic environment.

    Cons

Scotiabank's performance management system has the following 3 steps:
    1) Tell the employee they are NOT meeting expectations but NOT give them any specific reasons why.
    2) Immediately, post the employees position in order to find a replacement.
    3) Once a replacement is found, fire the employee.
No-one in Canada who is mentally competent would want to work in such a toxic environment.

    Advice to Management

Thousands of books have been written on performance management by experts in the field. Please read at least one of those books and re-build Scotiabank from the ground up.

I have been working at Scotiabank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Scotiabank has a strong HR culture, stable job, steady income. Lots of good people who want to make their clients better off.

    Cons

Pay feels below average. Technology infastructure is inefficient. Way too difficult to execute basic tasks or update information. Inherent advantages of customer trust and large deposits seem squandered due to a lack of willingness to adopt 21st century technologies to conduct business. People power is thrown at bad processes to solve 20th century problems when technology and new ways of doing business are ignored and not invested in.

    Advice to Management

Adapt to the 21st century, integrate systems, unlock the knowledge of your employees by enabling them to spend more time understanding customers and the markets we serve by getting technology and admin tasks out of the way.
