Cons

- 2.0Nov 2, 2021Accounting OfficerFormer Employee, less than 1 yearVancouver, BC
Pros
Large, recognizable parent organization in the form of Scotiabank (though there seems to be little mobility between ScotiaMcLeod and other parts of the bank), high degree of autonomy, free WSJ subscription.
Cons
Shockingly poor management team- largely absent and seemingly more concerned with office politics. Woeful displays of incompetence far below the standards expected at a major financial institution- constant internal entanglements between advisors and managers. Complete lack of training and support for new staff, very little clarity and communication, absolutely no collaboration or teamwork. In short- minimal growth opportunities, subpar pay and zero mentorship opportunities. Be prepared to experience business practices that should have no place in the modern-day workplace let alone a major Canadian bank. Unpaid overtime hours, atrocious displays of nepotism and if you're in the non-Anglophone minority, a healthy dose of casual racism.
