I have been working at Schreiber Foods full-time

    Pros

Good pay, decent hours, for the most part friendly co-workers. frequent raises, job security, great quarterly bonus, good benefits.

    Cons

HR is not a supportive department, everybody fears HR.
Everything is based on seniority, if you ask to go home, and there is someone who has worked there longer than you, they get to go home not you. some positions are given to people solely based on how long theyve worked there not based on actual experience or merit.

Be more transparent on the direction we are trying to go. Communicate business news better.

I worked at Schreiber Foods full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL! LOL!

    Cons

Being white is a negative because you're not a tax break. They will fire you for no reason, the union is useless. Most of the other "partners" will stab you in the back by lying so they look good and can keep their job. Big brother is coming soon as in $2m in security cameras so there's that for the peons to look forward to. It only gets cleaned when there's a government inspection scheduled.

    Advice to Management

Keep treating people like numbers and see how that works out.

I have been working at Schreiber Foods full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Competitive salaries, benefits you typically find at large companies, flexible work hours (for salaried partners).

    Cons

The politics! Omg!!! I’ve worked for other large companies and have never seen anything quite like this. It is totally like a high school popularity game. They like to tout the ‘Schreiber nice’ mentality, but that is really an excuse for leaders to act cowardly in providing clear, actionable feedback. A lot is done based on perceptions, not necessarily reality which is great for people good at pretending to be busy/overworked or know what you’re doing.... doesn’t matter if it’s real. It is a very passive-aggressive environment!

A watch out to other people reading reviews of this company is if the review sounds too good to be true, it probably is. It was probably written by the HR department as they frequently do that to keep the rating up and offset the negative feedback. This is a fact as it was talked about openly and directly by HR in a meeting. Maybe all companies do that, but this one does for sure.

    Advice to Management

Make sure leaders are qualified before you promote them. And the leader to partner ratio is ridiculous. Waaayyyy too many leaders that have 1-3 direct reports.

I worked at Schreiber Foods full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Uniform, breaks, health care, employee owned and operated

    Cons

Work conditions are almost unbearable at times, no voice or autonomy, employees are just a number, human resource department is a waste of payroll

    Advice to Management

Look at your most valuable asset and do what it takes to keep them.

I have been working at Schreiber Foods full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Retirement and insurance plans and benefits, discount on cheese, friendly employees, nice building

    Cons

Terrible HR, boys club attitude in supply chain department, lack of ability to move up the latter, you feel like you are working to give more money to the higher ups, long hours and no work/life balance, too many meetings

    Advice to Management

Less meetings, improve the business culture by having weekly events or parties (such as on Friday’s), hire more women in supply chain (there are far more men). HR should stop acting like they are superior to everyone and being power hungry.
