I have been working at Save-On Foods part-time

    Pros

    - Autonomy to carry out the days work - Shift times enable employees to study part-time - E-Comm Support team is ever ready to help PDA's during their shifts

    Cons

    - Not really a con but requires quite a bit of heavy lifting during the shift so be sure you can handle that aspect. For me, I can skip the gym because of the workout on the job :) - Sometimes the deliveries are in buildings with no elevators, so that makes things a bit harder but not impossible.

I have been working at Save-On Foods full-time for less than a year

    Pros

There's always plenty to do, it's good exercise, you are working indoors in a safe environment and on the graveyard shift with no customers around there's hardly any community exposure to COVID to worry about. Job security is good so long as you keep up the pace, and I doubt grocery stores will get closed so your hours are secure. Coworkers have a fairly good attitude, company culture is respectful. The company is opening new stores, so there are plenty of opportunities. The store workers are unionized, so you have a bit more protection than otherwise.

    Cons

There is a fair bit of "corporate soap opera" which can be distracting or annoying, but mostly it is pretty meaningless. Some things seem inefficient, and sometimes one wonders "why are we doing things this way" but I guess it makes to someone and that's the way it is. I don't think the supervisors get much management training, some of the interactions are not very well done and could be better. Training is pretty informal and unstructured, mostly you learn by asking experienced people for advice. They are generally happy to help.
