I have been working at SaskTel full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Most diverse company in Saskatchewan. New projects all the time. Some challenge, but not too much. Good work-life balance, good benefits, decent pay, great vacation.

    Cons

Can be very conservative and bureaucratic. Hard to get past the "We've always done it that way!" mentality. Work in silos is rampant. Defeats intergroup cooperation.

    Advice to Management

Clean up the internal processes to be more efficient. Break down the walls between groups. Force warm handoffs on all support calls whether inside or out.

I worked at SaskTel for more than a year

    Pros

Great work-life balance, they expect you to to keep that balance and even higher up in the company a balance is kept. Great leadership of directors and managers. They treat interns like part of the team and not like a new employee. They try to develop your skills and/or anything you are interested in pursuing within the company. Time off policies are awesome! You can practically get whatever time off you need/ take all your time off at once.

    Cons

Pay is not GREAT. Promotion process is largely by seniority so can be slow to move up.

    I worked at SaskTel

    Pros

work-life balance, including earned days off benefits pretty good group of colleagues, surprisingly intelligent salary is actually decent located in major city

    Cons

The union makes it difficult to reward top young employees with promotions or other advancement opps There are a number of slackers who can drag down a project

    Advice to Management

Tenure CANNOT be a decision factor in promotions Management needs to be more accountable for failure, which will in turn force them to be more demanding of staff
