I have been working at Salesforce full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    - Amazing, talented and dedicated people to work alongside - Great company culture, and one with an eye on its broader impact on the world - Grow your career there once you make the right connections internally

    Cons

    - Still thinks it is a start-up. Some processes still immature for such a large company - Sales environment is still unhealthy in places despite best efforts. There are a few well rounded leaders. - Pace is relentless at times

I have been working at Salesforce full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Please are great and super supportive. When you join the company, everyone is there for you, to help you learn and do the best you can. 6 months in, it's still the same. In addition, the culture of the company is great. Not only are you encouraged to support your colleagues but you're also encouraged to help the community. Volunteering is a big part of the company and trust and customer success are one of out most important...

    Cons

I was asked that question when I interviewed candidates for an open position and I had a hard time answering the question. There are the typical large company issues such as many groups to coordinate when working on something, a bit of politics and bureaucracy and a lot of processes.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

I have been working at Salesforce full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

If you are in the right business area, maintaining a good work/life balance is very easy. There are some employees spending as much as 50% of their time on volunteer activity - literally logging more than a thousand hours of volunteer time a year. The support that the company offers its employees in times of need is exceptional, and the care and understanding of middle management is genuine. I care for all of my team...

      Cons

Underneath the facade, Salesforce is focused on perception more than reality. VTO isn't volunteer time off at all. It's voluntold time on-top (of existing work load) for most of the company. We have targets for VTO set, but many business units aren't staffed appropriately to actually take the time off. Instead it's just adding work load on top of our existing work load. Also, the company really exemplifies the wealth...

      Advice to Management

Focus more on results and less on perception. Eventually the wrong (or right, perhaps?) person will see behind the curtain.

I have been working at Salesforce full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Overall the messaging coming to employees is wonderful and makes you feel like Salesforce is a safe place that does good in the world. It’s deeply saddening that the actual experience working in Technology and Products is one of constant battles between the cross-functional groups.

      Cons

Tension is normal and healthy between different disciplines but here the interactions across PM, UX, and Engineering are aggressive and lack empathy for each other. The focus is on each of the 3 separate orgs - you are on the ‘UX team’, ‘Eng team’, or ‘PM team’ instead of defining culture around the cross- functional team working on a product. This often results in aggressive behavior where each discipline intimidates...

      Advice to Management

Offer a way for any employee to point out behavior that does not support the Ohana in a method that feels safe and have the option to get support over the interaction. Hire behavioral coaches that observe interactions in reviews and coach our leadership how to conduct debates and discussions without aggression.

I have been working at Salesforce full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

      - Work with intelligent, creative, innovative people - Focus on the wellness of the individual - Cultivation of manager development and learning - Focus on the person over the process - Cross organization communication

      Cons

      - It's hard work - you have to love the challenges that they throw at you - A lot of tribal knowledge how things work

      Advice to Management

      - Focus on breaking down silos between departments - If everything is important, nothing is important - prioritize everything and be okay with what's not first priority - Continue to foster cross department communication and organization alignment

I have been working at Salesforce full-time for less than a year

        Pros

Jeff Bezos said: “Your brand is what people say about you when you are not in the room”. I prefer “Your brand is how people take care of it when you are no longer in control”. The way my colleagues talk and care about Salesforce business when Salesforce is not in control is just amazing. To me is the sign of an healthy company culture and vision, very proud to be part of this Ohana (family).

        Cons

At Salesforce everybody should be able to sell. Under a relative strong sale pressure ambiance, you need to accept to live with daily uncertainty and the discomfort of not having complete information, easy answers or obvious solutions.

        Advice to Management

Monitor the integration of acquisitions to align people to SF culture. Pay attention to clans of people coming from the same company (especially S.I. or direct competitors) potentially behaving against the "equal opportunity" value

Annual Goal Setting process (V2MOM) helps alignment between different functions. They are serious about their foundation work and internal equity.
