    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at Ryerson University part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - opportunities to develop strong public speaking skills
    - paid travel
    - development of customer service and people skills

    Cons

    - office management is never present (always travelling)
    - no recognition for exceptional performance
    - burn out of staff is glorified and inevitable, but management tries to package the experience in a desirable way
    - there is ZERO transparency in this office. Ryerson is meant to be a forward, innovative institution but there is no room for suggestions in Student Recruitment, your place is made very clear
    - full time permanent positions are hard to come by, many employees have no job security and are kept on contracts

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff and learn how to properly value your star employees. Practice what you preach - don't say you are authentic and then be underhanded and have a very tabu culture. Be open with your employees about extension and potential for jobs rather than stringing them along when there is no real opportunity for a full time position.
