I have been working at Roush Industries full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Being a test engineer has its perks. You are able to spend time with and learn about the newest automotive products. Fellow Coworkers are all very nice and there is a great work environment.

    Cons

Management does not recognize or acknowledge good work. Needed to ask multiple times for a yearly performance review, and once a review was given there was not much helpful feedback and no raise was offered.

I worked at Roush Industries part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Get to drive cars before the public knows about them, flexible schedules, traveling to beautiful places, test driver coworkers become like family.

    Cons

You can get fired over he said she said. If you miss any damage on a car, you’re fired. If someone leaves trash hidden in the car and you’re the last one in it when found, you’re fired. The office is very much like high school a lot of gossip. The manager does not interact with the employees and you’re treated as if you’re easily replaceable. If one person messes up in a procedure the office comes out and yells and lectures everyone else instead of discussing with the person one on one. This is also a part time gig with no pay raises no matter how many years you are there. You also are only allowed so many hours per year so they’ll work you as if you’re full time half the year and then you’ll get chopped down to once a week if that. They wait until you arrive to let you know you are an extra driver and send you home when you’re new this will happen all the time.

    Roush Industries Response

    November 10, 2016HR Manager

The Roush name is recognized across the industry for its strong work ethic and competitive determination, just like our race teams. The test driver position is a flexible and rewarding opportunity that contributes to our ongoing efforts to service our customers. Due to the nature of the work, using an employment agency provides opportunity for those qualified while also providing the flexibility Roush needs and the test drivers seek.

I have been working at Roush Industries for more than 3 years

    Pros

They claim to offer a flexible schedule but at the same time they impose a 2 weekend per month mandatory availability?

    Cons

A minimum wage offered with absolutely NO raises even for excellent work. The only ones who get promoted are those that are total incompetent "yes men" who don't know North from South and will do anything they are told even if it is totally backwards. Too bad because it could be so much better than that. Lots of accidents due to a policy of hiring anyone that can fog up a mirror.

    Roush Industries Response

    September 29, 2016HR Manager

Roush’s commitment to its customers is second to none. The test driver position is a very flexible position by nature, dependent on our customer’s needs and the availability of test vehicles. Asking employees to commit to 2 weekends a month provides Roush and its employees with flexibility to schedule work and time off as needed. Regarding promotions our employee handbook states: “Roush strongly believes in promotion from within the Company whenever possible.” The safety of Roush employees and the driving public is paramount and the extensive background checks and training completed by Roush and its vendors ensure only the most qualified drivers are allowed on the roads.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Roush Industries full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I have been a driver at roush las vegas for 4 years now and I thought it was a good job, easy work driving cars not much responsibility or pay but good for extra cash. Better than digging a ditch or flipping burgers. Get to drive the latest cars. And some pretty cool cars, if you're nice to the girl that schedules you anyway.

    Cons

But in the last couple of years it has really gone down hill. The site management doesn't treat people fair, plays favorites and has different rules for everyone. People likes get away with everything, people doesn't get writes up and pulled off the schedule or scheduled for short hours. Has meetings, says is going to do all kinds of things for us, but never follows through. We still don't have the drinking fountain that was promised us over two years ago.(a drinking fountain, so simple. and especially in a hot place like las vegas. and the driver area is not air conditioned) Recently several good people from the office have left. Why did the good ones leave? And the ones that stay really don't know what they're doing. Got promoted from drivers to the office because they were "favorites". People are leaving for a reason but Michigan management doesn't seem to care. I don't know how much longer I'll be here either. If you want an easy $9 an hour try it out but don't expect anything else.

I worked at Roush Industries part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    To be around new cars

    Cons

You are thrown into operating new vehicles with literally a few minutes to familiarize yourself with it's operation, before going out in a caravan of a few other drivers. Not enough breaks, considering the safety element of driving for 8 hours straight. Not enough paid time to complete written evaluations the way they really want them. Most drivers just go through the motions and check off things so they can go home after being exhausted. Considering the fame of the Rousch company name, I was very disappointed in the lack of professionalism in the job and environment.
