Good pay, benefits, perks and discounts but at a high price.

      Pros

The starting pay is much better than what a retail or restaurant job pays but Rogers is a 24x7 operation so your shifts will frequently change and don't ever get better. The benefits package is probably one of the best in Canada, the perks and discounts offered by Rogers are excellent (such as free courses on many topics and 50% off your Rogers service, plus the employee shares you can invest into.) And now the majority of any role can be a 'work from home' opportunity. This is about all that is good working for Rogers. Your colleagues are for the most part decent people.

      Cons

Work/life balance: There is simply none, you will find it very difficult to have a social life outside the walls of Rogers. In over 7 years being employed at Rogers I have never had a weekend off nor a holiday, I have never worked a shift that finishes any earlier than 11pm (and this is not an exaggeration in the least bit.) This is the high price you will pay being employed at Rogers. You will miss out on a lot in life as it passes on by while you're sitting at a desk dealing with ignorant people. Why not quit and move on you ask? Alternative opportunities in this area are slim, made more difficult these past 2 years due to the pandemic. Management: Or more accurately "micromanagement." Every single thing you do will be scrutinized and you will be coached on it until your manager is blue in the face. Expectations can change day to day, manager to manager and none of the teams or departments are in sync with one another so you'll likely be the last to get the memo. Training: It is poorly planned and often outdated, sometimes the material is unrelated to your job role but it is all they have to provide and expect you to just wing it when put back on the call floor. Career opportunities: You will need to jump through hoops to even start on the career path and on your own time. If you start out on the front line there is little room (and little hope) you will advance to anything more than a team manager. And if you do find an opportunity that suits your interest it is often a temporary position or "project" and when the time is up you will be back in the seat you started in. Overall your mental health will suffer severely as will your physical health due to improper sleep and diet patterns.
