Great place, but losing all engineering

      Pros

      - Really great pay - Really great benefits (free lunch, snacks, fridges always full of beer/wine, amazing facilities) - A lot of really smart, kind, helpful people work here

      Cons

      - So much attrition from engineers (over the last year, probably 40% of eng staff left) - Upper Eng Management (VPs and CTO) don't seem to care about keeping engineers or backfilling positions - New initiatives keep starting even though there is not enough staff to maintain current initiatives/projects

Skeleton crews are running RMN Engineering

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Free parking at Frost Bank Free breakfast on Mondays and Fridays Free lunch every day except Wednesdays Free snacks and drinks Free coffee at the coffee bar Reimbursed for phone bill and gym bill Free wellness/exercise classes Great culture and values Friendly coworkers Diverse RxSaver is growing rapidly and is an exciting space to be in

      Cons

"Unlimited PTO" when you're being recruited, "Flexible" PTO once you actually start Relatively recent layoffs No longer a company where engineering is valued Engineers are leaving in frightening numbers, and leadership does not prioritize backfilling positions, resulting in significant loss of knowledge. Some teams are down to a single developer. Projects are being moved to teams who have no idea how to support them. The company was not willing to sacrifice short-term revenue for long-term growth and success back when we had the personnel to handle it, now teams are just trying to get out of maintenance and support mode. A lot of friction when onboarding new engineers There used to be a Wednesday work from home policy that was eliminated early this year. The number of summer interns has decreased this year from the previous year.

      Engineers are leaving

      May 28, 2019 - Software Engineer

      Pros

Free lunch Nice office space and coffee bar Austin Downtown Co-workers are nice

      Cons

Due to culture change since new CTO come, 30-40% of engineers have left, including senior, staff and principal. It’s hard to be not impacted. And the hiring is never fast enough to backfill those positions. Future product is a big uncertainty. They decided to deliver new experience from scratch (since the main app become hard to maintain after losing all those senior mobile engineers). It is said that researches had been done before the decision, but no support data is shared. Since CTO cancelled WFH Wednesday, it is said new WFH policy will be made, which never happens (or at least didn’t happen before I leave). Compensation was good when you onboard as an entry level, but the growth is small when you get promoted to higher level. It was a great place to work, but not anymore.

Awesome people, feedback valued, great perks!

      Pros

RetailMeNot is a great company to work for! People expect you to work hard, but with that expectation also comes wonderful perks & benefits. Free lunches, accessible parking downtown, partnerships with gyms & fitness studios around town, matching 401(k) donations, charitable donations, insurance and more. The corporate culture continues to thrive! Leadership makes themselves available to listen to employees and bounce ideas around. Feedback is valued, and I feel heard when I bring suggestions to the table. The environment is collaborative and people are approachable.

      Cons

While the environment being collaborative is overall a pro, it can be hard to find true quiet times away from your desk at times.

      Pros

The people! The perks - while I don't receive these, I know firsthand how great they are - insurance, free lunch, workout classes, etc.. The mission - who doesn't like saving money?

      Cons

Nothing! Other than parking downtown but you do get free covered parking in wither the 301 building or Frost tower

      Pros

Great co-workers with great ideas. Free lunch, coffee, snacks, and gym. Lots of opportunities to get to know other co-workers in various departments.

      Cons

The ability to leave work at work is pretty non-existent (retail stops for nobody). Promotions can be hard to come by.

      Demanding Work but Adequately Compensated

      Pros

Amazing campus with themed beautifully decorated floors. Great perks such as free lunches, breakfasts on Mondays & Fridays, free downtown parking, onsite baristas and unlimited snacks. Employees also get access to dry-cleaning pick-up/drop-off and a Segway.

      Cons

Many of the tasks are tedious and repetitive so managing your focus and energy levels are important. Contractors tend to feel like outsiders.

      Very political, toxic environment

Jan 30, 2017 - Operations Coordinator in Austin, TX

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Free lunch 4 days/wk, coffee bar, free breakfast on mondays, cool workspace & gadgets in the office, work from home.

      Cons

Very political environment where 'diversity & inclusivity' is a major priority as employees are divided by race & genitalia, then we're told we need more of this group and less of this group. It's rather sickening. You must think and march along with the obvious political party lines (which doesn't even have anything to do with work) or you're not in the clique.
