I worked at Raytheon Technologies full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The work is interesting and fun. Good benefits. 9/80 work weeks

    Cons

I found out I was being paid only $1-2k more than male new college hires when I had been working there 3 years. Same thing happened to two other women I worked with. When bringing sexism up to management nothing happens. I didn’t even get any feedback, much less any change. The sexism is pretty clear. They also don’t pay enough for the cost of living in Massachusetts in general. It’s impossible to get fired here. I heard a man talking on the phone in his cube say something extremely racist. After reporting to management and HR, there didn’t seem to be any punishment.

  4. "Lots of opportunity; lots of red tape (review pertains to RTN before the merger)"

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Raytheon Technologies full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Enormous pride in working on technology to make the world a safer place, albeit unease at the application of some products in the Middle East. 9/30 Fridays a big plus with a pretty good benefits package. If you are interested in testing your abilities and want to learn new skills, there are plenty of opportunities here. From a technology perspective, few companies can claim to be more advanced. If you want to work on the latest in cyber, AI, hypersonics etc., this is the place for you.

    Cons

The proverbial turtle moves faster than the management team. The company is so big, and stuck in 'this is how we do it here', that agility is near impossible unless senior management makes it happen (and funds it). Margins are thin and senior management optimizes for stock performance. The end result: investment in emerging tech and employee-facing programs is a joke. Your experience will really be dictated by your manager and the program you work on. Be sure to evaluate those while considering a job at RTN.

I have been working at Raytheon Technologies

    Pros

    - In a town with few major employers, Raytheon pays well. - Healthcare and 401k benefits are good.

    Cons

    - Very small bonus structure until Sr Mgr pay grade compared to other product- based tech companies. - Still many old timers in the ranks on the pension retirement plan who are incentivized by information hoarding. It is very difficult to achieve results with these employees. - New merger with UTC creates large scale synergy targets for support functions (HR, IT, Supply Chain, Finance). These functions will experience hundreds of millions of $ in layoffs over the next several years to meet targets. - Rhetoric has shifted away from supporting the warfighter and into “velocity and efficiency”
