Pros

Push seemed like a dream when I started. Dogs, tons of snacks, Beer Fridays, young and fun coworkers. Surface-level appearance is enticing to new and potential employees. I was motivated by my coworkers positivity, and the decent autonomy I had.

Cons

A lot of things went south. I heard a lot of complaints through the grapevine, about the poor management. From what I gathered, and from my own experience, a lot of people felt underpaid and overworked, some were not being given clear expectations (lots of vague communication from the founders), and too many were victims to false promises (i.e. "we're hiring someone else soon, don't worry") Two of the founders don't seem to actually know how to manage a team, or individuals. "Leadership" is just in their titles. They are not good at listening, which is vital to an efficient team. I remember someone practically being yelled at by one of the founders (not behind a closed door), creating a monster of a one-sided argument, and then I heard that it was normal for her to do that. That's apparently how she "gives feedback". 😳 Also, the way they handled Covid-19? Yikes.

Thank you for taking the time to write Push a review. It is important for us to hear what we are doing well at and what we need to improve upon. As a growing startup, we recognize that our team members often wears multiple hats. We strive to encourage our team members to ensure a work/ life balance especially with work from home and will be reminding the team again about balancing work with their personal life. Appreciate the reminder ;) As for communication, it's never easy and we strive to be agile and informative except sometimes we get this wrong. This quarter we launched Objective Key Results to align the whole company and set clear expectations for each team member. Hopefully this will help bring more clarity to the everyone. We're always open to feedback and ideas. If you have any thoughts or ideas to enhance our communication, please reach out directly to tina@pushoperations.com - Tina (Co-Founder, Director of Business Development). We are proud of our work/ life balance and strive to set help our team create a meaningful experience at Push. As a growing startup, communication is never easy and we

Pros

-there are a number of genuinely nice folks who work here -100% remote work, or you can go to the office if you live in Vancouver -there are some systems in place (HR, etc....it's not complete anarchy)

Cons

- like many other tech companies, the sales team here is monetarily incentivized hit targets, however, at Push, this leads to alot of over-promising to a client, to close a deal, often resulting in a ton of additional work & stress being put onto other teams to deliver on these promises and unrealistic timelines. - rollouts and new initiatives (ie. new products, new regions) are often rushed and not properly thought through, which typically leads to significant client friction and internal employee frustration - lots of people being fired for no apparent reason (even those who were high performers and well-loved by clients & peers). Makes those who remain feel like they are walking on eggshells. - the pay & benefits are at the low end of industry standards -the burnout is REAL. Execs & upper management keep trying to squeeze more productivity out of the ICs without providing any additional tools or support. The end result is some people NEED to work overtime, (and depending on the time of year, a LOT of overtime) (uncompensated overtime, to be clear) to hit their KPIs/targets...but at the same time, being told they shouldn't be working any overtime.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. We appreciate and value inputs from current and former employees. The company grew organically and has not raised any VC funding to date. It was an intention effort from the founders to ensure culture and direction is driven by the company's purpose of helping people do what they love rather than pressure from VC firms. For multiple years the company focused on growing the product and only recently they hired a sales leader to build out the department. As for the bonus structure, the leadership team spent a few months of work, research, and discussion that addressed a new bonus structure designed to give our staff the potential for higher earnings. I'm sorry that you feel there may be a negative impact and encourage you to discuss concerns with your manager or contact our HR department so we can work together and find a solution. Our intention is to make Push Operations the best place you have ever worked. Thank you again for your insight. It helps us make Push a better company for everyone.
