I have been working at Protiviti full-time for more than a year

    Pros

With Protiviti, one is in the consulting world without the usual downsides of a consulting firm- everyone from top to bottom has a stake in the firm's success and profitability. The global leadership is focused on finding synergies, and the local leaderships are always trying to cross-leverage each other's relationships, and projects. There's a healthy internal organizational dynamics amongst most leaders. There is a huge focus on internal training, culture building, methodology, and processes - which really is eye opening. And some people are just amazing - leaders in ITC I have met & had opportunity to work with, peers across the world, people in the Toronto office...

    Cons

Knowledge management still has some distance to go. The outstanding work done in several places is not yet entirely exploited across the form - in a repeatable and scalable manner. Brand recognition is still catching up, but perhaps commensurate to the firms young age (all but 13) and size...

I have been working at Protiviti full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The first thing that stands out at Protiviti is the people and the warm culture. Right from the time HR personnel reached out to me on Linkedin, every interaction that I had was pleasant. The onboarding process (Passport to Protiviti) is one of a kind where the company has invested alot of resources in providing a great welcome to the new employees and makes it very easy for them to hop onboard infused in the values and culture that Protiviti wants to promote. The branding is very strong and gives a great first impression. The location of Toronto office is in the heart of financial district that makes you feel very connected. The team in Toronto office is relatively small and growing, hence you get a chance to actually know and interact with majority of your colleagues unlike bigger firms where you would hardly know anyone outside your own team. There are many social events and drinks giving you a chance to catchup and connect with colleagues outside work. The projects that Protiviti teams are working on are for leading financial institutions providing lots of exposure. The project management team and leadership on the project is very transparent and invested. There are regular team meetings that keep everyone in loop and provide opportunities to raise concerns or questions. There are fair opportunities and room given to innovate and propose solutions. Thinking out of the box is encouraged to provide client service excellence. There are tonnes of resources available at intranet and training opps provided to catchup on learning and keeping up to date. There is an open door policy practiced by leadership where you can raise concerns in confidence and have objective discussions without any fears. There is resourcing team available in each line of service to help you pursue your career interests and communicate the type of projects and geographical locations that you would like to work in. There are opportunities to work with teams from various parts of North American region. The pay is fair and compensation package includes a very fair bonus scheme that rewards performance and recognizes your contributions.

    Cons

The hiring process seemed to be unnecessarily long and took around 3 months. The onboarding takes place in U.S cities and Canadian employees can not relate to few sessions offered during the training. Due to smaller size, there is a bit of chaos in management of things, it is less organized than expected. It can take a while to figure out who's who and how are things done, making you feel lost for a while. Client service time vs internal errands time balance is difficult to manage. It is a less flatter structure than other consulting firms with majority of employees reporting to single director in each line of service. Just like any other consulting firm, the work/life balance is a challenge, at times you need to put up those extra hours to get things done but you sign up for it!

    I worked at Protiviti full-time

    Pros

Smaller consulting firm with reach in various industries and parts of the country/globe.

    Cons

Some groups are newer and smaller -facing a lot of internal politics and thrash related to scaling up. Be aware of how large of a team you'll be joining - as you might be limited to opportunities/limited career growth based on work they win.

I have been working at Protiviti full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Very friendly people, great culture, open policies, and great communication from all levels in the company.

    Cons

Not solely a management consulting firm, lots of other work they don't tell you about. Being a new consultant, you're in a foundations program, which nearly all foundations consultants don't understand.

I have been working at Protiviti full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    - Hours are very reasonable for consulting firm. - Culture is nurturing and focused on employee career growth. - Many ways to get involved at the company outside of day to day work. - Pay is more competitive with other firms. - Benefits have drastically improved (great paternity leave, increased 401k match, more CTO, among others). - Management is focused on growth and employee retention.

    Cons

    - Work isn't always interesting. - You may travel more than you prefer.

I have been working at Protiviti full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great culture. Also, Protiviti dedicates significant time, resources and money towards innovation and management and staff have high integrity. They listen to the client and want to do what is best for them. Not easy to find in a consulting firm.

    Cons

Protiviti recognizes that they need to do a better job in hiring diverse talent, especially in management. They are talking significant actions - for example, Protiviti has a senior executive who is solely dedicated to diversity and inclusion (and separate and distinct from the Chief of HR). Further, they are putting efforts towards hiring more women, including women who have taken time off during their career.

I have been working at Protiviti full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Protiviti truly has a special culture. This is evident by the number of people that have been here for well over 10 years. It's a large consulting firm in some ways but still maintains a "family" culture. Leadership really cares about the people and it shows!!

    Cons

No cons really. I mean, no company or job is perfect and there are definitely times of year that are crazy busy but all and all, it's a great company to be a part of!!

I have been working at Protiviti full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Work is interesting - They have really good people, and I'm not just saying this. There is real community here and the team aspect to each engagement is evident. - The amount you get paid for the amount you work is better than at Big 4 companies. As someone who has worked at Big 4, you might find yourself working 60 hours a week, but only getting paid marginally more than at Protiviti. At Protiviti, you will work between 40-50 hours a week (depending on which solution you are in) with an off chance of working 60 hours once or twice a year. - Typical consulting firm travel perks, fun events to build office culture on Fridays - Access to upper management is much better at Protiviti than other consulting firms - This is the kind of firm you don't want to just hop in for two years and go somewhere else. It's the kind of lifestyle, work environment, and career that you want to stick with because it is just that good. - People actually take majority of their CTO/PTO (Choice/paid time off) and it isn't looked down upon, it's actually encouraged.

    Cons

    - Benefits/pay isn't as boisterous as the Big 4's - I'm willing to sacrifice a higher salary at either Big 4 or BCG, McKinsey, etc. for the work/life balance, people, and company that genuinely cares. So pay may be marginally less, but everything else for me personally makes up for it. - Other than that, I don't see why you'd want to work anywhere else besides Protiviti!

I have been working at Protiviti full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

As someone who has spent their entire career (10+ years) with the company and have seen it grow from a fledgling company grappling with the fallout of Anderson/Enron and struggling to keep up with the demand for SOX services, to a dynamic, progressive and highly competitive consulting firm offering a diverse suite of consulting solutions, I can say that this is in fact a great place to build a career. I've enjoyed taking part in and watching the firm evolve and am more excited than ever to see what unfolds over the next five years. Take away: You will be given the opportunity to take control of your career and provided with all the resources you'll need to achieve the goals you set out to hit.

    Cons

While it recently hit the $1 billion revenue mark and is projected to blow past that in the future, there can be some limitations in terms of the diversity of industry and clients depending on what market you are in. With it being a smaller firm compared to some of the bigger consulting and big 4 accounting firms, you may have to be more flexible in terms of mobility and work location. However the company is very accommodating with this and has rolled out a mobility program to allow for people to move to different locations if it makes sense for both the employee and the firm.
