      Pros

Productive but personal interviews. Very informative about the process and next-steps were clearly communicated.

      Cons

Was delayed in actually receiving offer due to some internal shuffling, so I did want a little longer than anticipated to find out if I was hired.

Prodigy is a company that cares about its employees

      Pros

Normally when you have a company that claims to be focused on their employees, it's hollow and very begrudging. Prodigy flips that on its head by being exceptionally focused on making their employees not just happy, but fulfilled in their jobs as well. It's a place where you can feel good about working not just for the work you're doing, but the overall goals of the company, and the atmosphere of the company.

      Cons

There are no cons that I can think of that are specific to Prodigy aside from growing pains. We're currently growing aggressively as a company which means there's not enough people on each team and we don't necessarily have all the processes in place that we need to. On the flip side, that means there's a lot of room to grow as an individual.

Great Mission, Great Company, Great Business

      Pros

A company mission to "help every student in the world love learning" makes it really easy to come to work every day. The company is growing at an incredible pace so there are always new opportunities and initiatives to work on. Kids, teachers, and parents all LOVE Prodigy, With millions of students using Prodigy every day it's great to be working on something that impacts so many families. A strong multi-year strategy is in place to guide the company while staying agile to deliver the best for all of Prodigy's users and great business results. Committed investors to fuel the growth, and are mission aligned with a long term view. Learning and development fund to support continuous learning. Strong cultural values that are lived every day.

      Cons

These aren't cons in my view but things people need to know. It's a high growth software company, some processes are not in place yet, and others evolve to adapt to the growth. If change and adaptability are not your things this might not be the place for you. For this stage of the company though, Prodigy is in a great place. It's a high-performance culture that is outcome-focused. This means delivering on results and being accountable. for your work. If you are the type of person that loves to focus on the output of your work rather than the impact and outcomes, then this might also not be the place for you.

      Pros

People are great Lots of opportunities for someone to learn and grow their own skills (Learning Fund) Leadership does take the time to understand what you need to grow in your own career

      Cons

The company is growing and will have to make changes where it's needed. The changes may result in different work for others that they may not be use too.

      Pros

      - Smart, engaged, diverse group of colleagues who really care about the quality of the product being put in front of students, teachers and parents - Management is setting high targets for future growth, while investing heavily in projects and technologies that will support delivering at scale - Culture of candor, tight feedback loops and open communication while still being organized in such away that objectives are clear and aligned across stakeholders - Responded well to the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring all employees had what they needed to thrive remotely (including a generous wfh allowance), introduced a practical return-to-office plan for when it is safe to do so - Competitive salary, benefits and options packages for all full time employees

      Cons

      - Application/hiring process took longer than other companies, however this appears to be improving with new hires

      Pros

The company successfully put in place good company values and hire people living by those same values. Result is a great company culture, great teammates across all departments. Excellent leadership at all levels. Company is well funded and has the means to reach its stretched objectives.

      Cons

Growth is fast so that might not be suitable for everyone

Great place to learn, expect some growing pains

      Jan 18, 2021 - Product Manager
      Recommend

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Growth focused, with a strong investment in the product. The flatness of the company makes it simple to transition into a different role (function, department, etc.) if you are looking to learn something new. Employee satisfaction has become a main focus. The People Ops team is very attentive and maintain a "small company" feel, nearing 400 people. The product makes learning math enjoyable for kids and does it for free, so that makes your work more meaningful and interesting. They are entering into a new growth stage as a company, which should be exciting to be a part of. Many new opportunities will come up for leading and pathfinding. Change in leadership will bring expertise.

      Cons

Growth will come with growing pains which may be uncomfortable for a while. They're "building the ship while sailing it", which means not every system, process, or mindset is going to be 'perfect' for the size of the company. Organizational structure is growing and changing too, so some roles may not be as advertised (this doesn't have to mean worse).

      Good place to work at

      Pros

      - Good culture - Good executive team that has good plans - Good processes for development and team

      Cons

No paid lunches (except for some random times) or some of the benefits (like RRSP matching) that other companies might have. They do have a bunch of other benefits though that make working here fun.
