Not great unless you genuinely want to go into insurance

      Jan 19, 2021 - Insurance Agent

      Business Outlook

      Pros

A lot of free time and freedom. They also give you training on how to sell insurance and pay for your training to get certified.

      Cons

Commission based, where if you don't sell any insurance then you aren't able to earn any money. Furthermore, although they state they are not a pyramid scheme it feels like one as they constantly recruit a lot of new comers and continually suggest to tell them to bring in their parents or friends.

      Branch Manager

Aug 27, 2018 - Branch Manager in Hamilton, ON
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

The company is part of the Financial Service Industry. Financial Service industry is one of the largest most profitable industries in the world. Having education and experience in the financial services, it is rewarding working with clients and other company partnerships. Unlimited amount of income, like any other business. Primerica helps reps be in business for themselves but not by themselves. Listed on the NYSE, under the symbol (PRI), you can get ownership of the company with bonuses that are paid. Best company to get licensed by for the LLQP or Mutual Fund licese. State of the art licensing program that helps reps succeed.

      Cons

Anyone who is new to the financial service industry, has to become licensed. This turns some people off who are not willing to self develop. The licensing program contains tests that some may not be able to achieve. This is a business model, not a job. Anyone looking to work 9-5 should look elsewhere from finance not just Primerica. Most financial service companies positions are commission based. Commission is beneficial to the financial service industry, because as your clients grow, so does your income. In finances the only way to grow a book of business is to get good results for your clients. The more money means the more you helped people out.

      Great experience

      Oct 21, 2017 -
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - Flexible time - Great part time income $500-1000/mo working 8-10 hours a week - Equal Opportunity for anyone to own and run your own business as a broker. - Great experience to start one's own business - Offer financial products and services that actually help people. Crusading for the injustice of the financial services caused to the middle market families out there. Bringing Wall Street Services (even better) to the Main Street Families. - Must be licensed to help people with the products and services. Offer professional designations such as LLQP (life insurance license) and CSC (Mutual fund license) with essentially low cost

      Cons

      - Commission-based only as a start - Still have some negativity in the Internet so make sure you find credible sources about the company

      Feeling of Interview

      Jan 10, 2016 - Anonymous Freelancer

      Pros

Their manager is persuasive, you may learn a good sale skill from them. You may get the skill to deal with clients. You may get a high compensation, if you have a lot of previous clients or family members.

      Cons

Totally commission based, and they are trying to dig out everything about your family and your close friend, which means the job may corrupt your relationship. Besides, from their annual report, their revenue depends on the number of their sales representatives. Believe it or not, they have more than 90,000 representatives, including part-time and full-time. Their corporate structure is multi-level marketing, a structure closing to pyramid scheme but a legal one.

It is suitable only for those who are strongly interested in finance and very good at sales

Jul 18, 2014 - Sales Representative in Toronto, ON

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Flexible time, people would like to help you, answering all your questions about finance. You can be well trained about all financial products and also you can meet a lot people there. Companies have many internal contests to motivate the employees. The winners could be travelling to many fantastic places for free.

      Cons

If you are not comfortable with selling their products to your friends and families, then don't get into this business. The one biggest thing in training there is teaching you how to get references from you and your friends. The target market is your net working, and the sales rep is solely commission based position.

      Amazing opportunity!

      Pros

There is an opportunity for full ownership of not only your own client list…but those that you bring into your business to work with you…that build their own office. In building a branch of business you can sell those branches at retirement for ten times your current salary. They are being actively managed by other branch managers. Company has zero compliance fines, high morals, and always does what's right for the client, which makes it a nice work environment. Company was rated the #1 most trusted financial services business by Forbes in 2015, won the Dalbar award for excellence in customer service for 13 years in a row, and has the #1 ranked segregated fund for past 12 years. Great tools to work with. Salary is exceptional. Work on your own schedule. Work a lot from home. Great flexibility with family commitments. You are your own boss and write your own paycheque. Excellent tax advantages as well.

      Cons

There are a lot of "myths" and lies online, which you often have to explain to clients. Because Primerica has the most six and seven income earners in North America (followed by Microsoft), a lot of people want to try to work with us and cannot pass the licensing exams, which often makes them lash out online. Also, because we can hire people and get paid to train and supervise them, people think we are a MLM. This is not true. We get paid to train and supervise. The same as any manager in any business. This also often misinforms the public, which can be challenging when setting appointments. It is 100% commission based salary, which is challenging for some people. Truthfully, if you're good with people, you will easily still make more at Primerica part-time than most full-time 40 hour a week jobs.

Huge Scam & Pyramid Scheme in Disguise

      Jun 10, 2018 - Anonymous Employee

      Pros

There is literally nothing good about itexcept if you're the type of person that enjoys living in a fantasy world where you lie your way through to everyone around you on how Primerica is growing and expanding and that the agents are making a ton of money.

      Cons

Very deceptive and full of lies. This place is almost 100% commission based with no proper salary and you make money based on aggressive networking by bringing in friends, families, and any other person that you know to your "regional leader" (LOL). Your superiors will pressure your to bring in someone by harassing you on a constant basis or else you will never make any money or get promoted in their system. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE.

      Pros

Friendly people with lots of energy all the time. High 5s you when they greet you. The office is neat and seems like a typical office to work at.

      Cons

Commission based, which is pretty hard for some starters (especially if you are just out of college). You need to start from scratch to build a network which may take a while.
