I have been working at Polytechnique Montréal full-time

    Pros

There's a blue line metro station that takes you almost inside the university. This is VERY important during the winter.

If you don't speak French fluently, some things are way harder than they should.

I worked at Polytechnique Montréal full-time

    Pros

Level and quality of research at Ecole Polytechnique is quite high. I learned French at a beginner level during my time there.

    Cons

If you don't speak French, you will have a difficult time at Ecole Polytechnique. Although the website will tell you that you can complete your studies in English, this is not the reality: Not all professors will facilitate this for you. Social life at university will be quite limited if you don't speak French. Even administration staff (department secretary etc.) will give you a hard time if you speak in English. My studies were hugely sacrificed as a consequence. I had the impression that my experience would be similar to my friend's in Europe (countries like Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands etc.) that offer programs in English. Unfortunately this was not the case.
