    Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

Amazing place to work all around

      Business Outlook

      Pros

So many fantastic benefits to working at PointClickCare! There are perks including onsite gym with trainer-led classes, a great subsidized cafeteria, games/entertainment for when you need a break and a good benefits package. Leadership have done a great job of bringing together the different functional groups on a regular basis so that a company of 1000+ employees feels like a tight knit community. All of the senior leadership, including the CEO are accessible to all employees. Most importantly, the company is driven to support the Long Term Care industry and impact the lives of seniors by making the lives of caregivers easier.

      Cons

Some growing pains as the company develops products for new lines of business.

      Pros

Culture is number one, and the owners run this company like its family. Great perks and benefits are put forward without request because it creates a "great culture eats strategy for breakfast". Company is growing very quickly with lots of opportunity, and a fantastic LEED certified building near the airport.

      Cons

With rapid growth comes growing pains. Like all companies there are sometimes collaboration and communication challenges, especially as things grow.

The company has gone through very rapid growth in the past few years. This in turns results in many advancement opportunities.

      Cons

Some of the processes are still unstable and in flux. It's one of the growing pains that is not unexpected from a company of this size.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Awesome flexibility and autonomy that is afforded to me by working from home. Talented, smart and fun co-workers that make every day exciting. Amazing leadership that provides a vision for taking care of our customers and a culture of taking care of the employees. Wonderful customers and partners that motivate and challenge us to provide the best solutions in the market.

      Cons

Typical growing pains of a successful startup that has grown exponentially in the past few years. Sometimes there is not enough internal processes and sometimes there is too much. Its seems we are still trying to find the right balance at this stage in the company's evolution.

Work doesn't always have to suck

      Jun. 20, 2015 - Project Manager
      Recommend
      CEO Approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Positive culture, open to creativity. Motto is "work doesn't always have to suck" and they mean it. Dress code is open which allows for personality and freedom which makes work more enjoyable and employees more likely to want to work hard. Culture promotes vacation time and decompression which they believe makes the hard work easier to handle. I agree

      Cons

The company is growing and changing so quickly that there are the expected growing pains. You must be able to adapt to changes daily which sometimes can be stressful. If you aren't an independent thinker and can't self motivate this is not the place for you.
