I worked at Pentland Brands full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Multinational company, matrix structure, great brands, vision, excellent facilities (free parking, postal services, indoor gym and swimming pool, outdoor tennis court)

    Cons

Salaries are low, canteen food quality is generally (very) low, north London/not close enough to the high street/restaurants

    Advice to Management

More clarity on the roles and responsibilities

I worked at Pentland Brands full-time

    Pros

    Great facilities and staff discounts
    Great people

    Cons

Completely incompetent executive team, with inadequate skills and risk appetite to be successful in such a competitive market. Added to that they think they are above being accountable for decisions and let the teams doing the work take the fall for their poor decision making. Also, sadly being good at your job isn’t appreciated, which leaves you completely demotivated and funnily enough want to leave. The high staff turnover reflects it ( even with a restructure underway )

    Advice to Management

Stop running the brands into the ground and start treating it like a real business. It’s important to be efficient, but years of cost cutting have left you with an under invested back office which will prevent you from being successful. You must speculate to accumulate, that’s the reality of business. Stop being cautious about the things that don’t matter and stop taking unnecessary risks where they do. If you don’t, you won’t have a business for very long. Start appreciating the people that actually do the work.

I have been working at Pentland Brands full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great benefits
    Good people
Gym and swimming pool on site
    Nice culture
Since splitting into 2 divisions organisational design works way better
Not a stressful environment to work in
    Few people overworked

    Cons

Feels like company is intent on paying people as little as they can get away with, often losing out on good talent as a result
Even after re-organising the stucture, not that clear hierarchy
    Not very diverse
    Very slow to communicate anything

    Advice to Management

Stop playing it so safe with everything
    Be clearer about communication

I have been working at Pentland Brands full-time

    Pros

Great discount / sales. Lovely offices.

    Cons

Badly managed. Promote work/life balance is unrealistic due to large workload and tight targets. No dismissal for bad workers who hold back team

    Advice to Management

Promote the hard works and get rid of the people who are taking advantage of your inability to let bad workers go

    Pros

    great benefits, 401k match, vacation

    Cons

Management has no idea what they are doing in the US to manage a footwear business and hold their employees to unrealistic expectations when it comes to workload. They need new management and executives before i would ever recommend anyone going to this company.

    Pros

Great facilities for staff, pool, gym and a canteen with discounts on own brand products. Nice building by a lake.

    Cons

Finchley is a little out of the way. Has a tube station nearby but if your not coming from central London it can take a while to get too.

    Advice to Management

New talent is always good but don't lose all your knowledge.
