I worked at Pentland Brands full-time

    Pros

great brands(but all significantly under performing) - was an amazing place to work but changed in last 3 years

    Cons

poor decisions - business now in panic mode - people in roles with no experience, no leadership. Why put sales guys in supply chain leadership roles , Marketing in to Operations leadership. Internal politics is rife.

    Advice to Management

wake up before you lose all your best people and stop pandering to the dinosaurs in the business who are holding you back.

I worked at Pentland Brands full-time

    Pros

Camaraderie through multiple redundancy exercises and endless job instability.

    Cons

Senior women have consistently "left" and been replaced by men.
The gender pay gap is 18.4%, more than double the UK average of 9.1%.
The returner rate of women after maternity leave is laughably poor.
The practically all-male Executive are so distant from their female consumers that their product, sales and marketing decisions are out of step with the market.

    Advice to Management

Resign and hire some talented women to replace you.

I have been working at Pentland Brands full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

One of the best work places I have worked in. A company that always looks for what is best for its employees as well as what is best for the business.
People are always on hand to help if required. When starting at Pentland, I was made to feel part of the Pentland family straight away.

    Cons

Communication has been a draw back over the end of last year. However that has drastically improved in recent months.

    Advice to Management

Clearer communication, especially in times of change.

I worked at Pentland Brands full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Discount off various brands
    Holiday Entitlement
Some good people to work with.

    Cons

    Low salary - high expectations
    Rubbish Break entitlement
    Not enough staff
No support given by direct manager
    Reluctance to communicate honestly
Inexperienced senior management with no long term vision.
    Ridiculous workloads
    Toxic blame culture.

    Advice to Management

Review your senior management and particularly in the retail sector. Be honest with employees about job losses and store closures. Toxic blame culture and people managers with no people skills. Good talented people are leaving due to bad senior management, lack of effective communication and downright lies.

    Pros

    - Great Facilities - car park is good and always space, post room
    - Open plan office
    - Longtime staff are very loyal to each other
    - Staff shop
    - Strong Business Analyst team

    Cons

    - Senior management inexperienced in some business critical areas
    - Exec a little detached from the realities of how to support inexperienced senior management meet their KPI's
    - Location not great for South Londoners
    - Gossipy culture
    - Diversity and a female presence seriously lacking at board level - take a look at the photo on site for context :-|

I have been working at Pentland Brands full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Great People
    Great brands
Potential to grow, develop (both individually and the company)
Awesome facilities in London based office (coffee shop, restaurant, staff shop, gym, pool, chill out areas). Offices in Nottingham & Sunderland do not have the same facilities, but are modern, creative environments which are a pleasure to work in.
    Flexi working

    Cons

Going through restructure (again) and very slow getting it done.
Communication seems clear at the time, however, reflecting back on the comms, what is said is not always what is meant, or intent is not clear.
Pay lower than standard. Pay not consistent across the business with similar roles across the brands.

    Advice to Management

Make the communication a lot more clearer so there is no room for interpretation or the intent is not clear. If found to be the case, to address. The overall business strategy is very clear, but the comms on the impact for individuals has at times ambiguous and arduous.
Great brands and great people are in the business who really care, many are working above and beyond silently.
