The Edgewater Casino provides management an opportunity to advance their education and professional development.

      Pros

Excellent people to work with as a family atmosphere has been created. New Casino to be built in downtown core that has limitless potential.

      Cons

Upper management too unpredictable in terms of personnel. Too much change at the top that created instability for front line staff.

      Pros

Good place to get industry specific knowledge

      Cons

Upper management is brutal to work for. Zero concept of personal time, will shamelessly harass you on vacation or when away ill. Flexibility is an illusion here because they don’t trust their employees. Lots of people cruising in their roles means a deep lack of technical competence in the finance department. Little upward mobility. Some of upper management still thinks screaming and/or swearing is an appropriate form of communication. Very little mentorship to be had.

      A job, not a career

      Pros

Easy industry to get into, and with the right luck you can move up through the ranks after a few years. Even without that, tips make the mediocre pay far more attractive. The benefits are excellent.

      Cons

Toe the line or you'll find a lot of resistance from all higher ups. Unless you're part of the "in-crowd" you're invisible to upper management regardless of performance. Petty rivalries, jealousy, and nepotism are everywhere. You'll be working strange shifts with many jaded individuals who can be a great sources of wisdom and entertainment.

      Pros

Great FOH F&B Management team, great company benefits, good work environment most of the time, always busy, never a dull moment.

      Cons

Lack of leadership/support from upper management, high F&B management turnover, low salaries for F&B FOH management, too much company politics
