Chaotic, Unorganized and Cutthroat - watch your back!

    Pros

The company has many experienced Professionals, with one or two horticulturists who really know their stuff! When it comes to inquiries about landscaping, pest control, bedding plants and trees, you know you'll get the right answer. They also stand behind their work and have excellent warranties.

    Cons

Getting the supervisors and horticulturists to spend any amount of time training you is a challenge. There seems to be no sense of urgency during down times and when things get busy, staff start scrambling to get done what the Senior Staff left unfinished. Employees are encouraged to report on one another and "I didn't mean to get you in trouble" is a common phrase. New employees find it difficult to fit into the "clique". Safety is another concern, particularly involving the level of dust and silt in the warehouse, which also houses many fertilizers, live plant material and chemicals. Although dust masks were provided, the supervisors felt that nothing else could be done, and suggestions for ventilation were not taken seriously. And finally, this industry generally pays minimum wage, and this has caused a lot of tension and discord among employees who feel someone else may be getting more.
