    Positive Outlook

I worked at PR Newswire full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There are a lot of friendly people around and the company emphasizes that everyone is family. People can make many mistakes and still get a new chance. This is of course up to a point for but for the most part the management understands the growing pains that people go through. Clear goals set for each employee and generous bonuses if you can attain them.

    Cons

It can be a bit repetitive.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Perhaps allow employees to apply for internal transfers.

I worked at PR Newswire full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Nice office. That’s it.

    Cons

Lousy management that doesn’t care about its employees. No strategic direction except to cut costs and generate cash flow to be attractive to a buyer. Unrealistic sales goals designed to cut commissions to the bone. Ancient billing platform that drives an enormous amount of errors and time-consuming fixes. Sub-par benefits.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees and they will take care of you.

    Pros

Great friendly atmosphere. Room for growth and advancement.

    Cons

Not enough training, and commission decreases once sales goals are met consecutively.

    Advice to Management

Please invest in better training resources.

    Pros

For a very large global company, they are very collaborative. There are some incredible and smart people there who truly know the industry and want to do what's best for their clients.

    Cons

New commission plans are very delayed every year, sometimes not released until April or May. This makes it challenging to understand what your goals are and what you need to try to accomplish as you hit the ground running at the beginning of each year.

    Advice to Management

Understand your employees value and worth. Make sure you keep a focus on that so that your good employees don't just become a number after the large merger.

    Pros

I was really lucky to work at this company. Great people make up the core of the business. The management and higher-ups are all smart people and very much care about you personally and your professional development. Good benefits and lots of places you can move to once you learn the business and products.

    Cons

Cision may make some changes to the policy's and benefits that make PR Newswire so great. I say MAY though as any company buyout could bring these sort of things.

    Advice to Management

Always keep those core values of employees and customers! Loyalty will continue as well!

Decent starting Pay. If you keep your head down you can coast for years.

    Cons

Salary increases are minimal. No matter how hard you work it never gets recognized.

    Advice to Management

Stop laying off the people who do the work.

    Pros

I have been fortunate to work at PR Newswire Europe when Lisa Ashworth was leading the company. My decision to join the company was made right at the first job interview where I met Lisa. Lisa is an inspirational leader who widens one’s horizons and supports employees with achieving great results. Under Lisa’s management I was able to develop a new market in Russia/ CIS from scratch; moreover, I was entrusted to build...

    I worked at PR Newswire

    Pros

Having had many years working within the media and working for uninspiring higher management, PR Newswire was a delight. It is an excellent platform to have the flexibility to develop your skills within the current role whilst also having a strong backing to progress internally. This was pushed by the CEO, Lisa Ashworth. It is very rare to find a manager that focusses on the individual for the longterm benefit of...

    Cons

That Lisa Ashworth is no longer there, she has the ability to never micro manage you, however, always guide and direct and ensure that you make the most of your role. Win win, the business gets the very best from their employees and the employee gets the very best training and development. These senior managers are very rare and hard to find.

    Advice to Management

Re-Hire Lisa Ashworth! Seriously, her industry knowledge is second to non and her attitude for 'we can always find a way and nothing is impossible' is infectious and inspiring. Senior management teams could learn a thing or two from this lady.
