I worked at PPL for less than a year

    Pros

The compensation was fair and I was able to walk to work.

    Cons

They out-sourced 80 percent of their internal IT department and its total chaos. Managers who have no understanding of what leadership is about and who only have the job because of the absence of great managers who they let go. A stagnant work environment with even more lethargic, un-motivated staff who do the minimum and whose highlight of the day is '5:00 PM'.

I worked at PPL for more than a year

    Pros

PPL is committed to diversity and inclusion, 'keeping up with the times', and expressing value to their employees. Modern and new work facility with latest technology. Ideas as an intern are valued and your workload is meaningful. You are part of the team and provided with many responsibilities if proven your commitment, work ethic, professionalism, and ability to multitask. Positive work environment. Employees enjoy their work, feel valued, and bring their best to work every day. Although this is a Fortune 500 company with approximately 5,000 employees, the company gives a personal feel. The executives and leadership team are personable, 'down to earth', and regularly interact with the employees. Great training program for interns with mentorship, leadership development, and networking opportunities. Their Young Professionals Business Resource Group is very active and welcoming. As an intern, I felt part of the team, proud to work there, and enjoyed going to work every day. Onsite parking and secure premises. Commitment to sustainability. Great company work perks. Overall positive environment and experience.

    Cons

I do not have any cons.

I have been working at PPL full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

No Pros. The days of competitive pay and benefits are gone for this company. You can getter better compensation elsewhere and stuck in a hostile work environment.

    Cons

Hostile and toxic environment. Incompetent management. Culture of yes people. Club mentality. Constantly have to remain on guard for fear of saying the wrong thing to the wrong person. You can lose your job on the spot. It's literally that bad. Management pretends to care about its reports. Greed drives the company. CIO is totally incompetent. He is literally destroying the IT organization. President of Utilities is totally greed driven. CEO has no clue about how this company is being taken apart. People over a certain are treated poorly. Work and productivity suffers because of the inept decisions being made. Poor work life balance.

I worked at PPL for more than 3 years

    Pros

I truly worked with great people who were team-oriented and tried to make your day. Most people were easy to talk to in the organization. The compensation and benefits when I was there were really good and it was a flexible work environment. Employees were able to work from home in cases of bad weather or other life events.

    Cons

The organization runs very lean these days, which can be stressful to those now having to wear several hats. Still, this is how most jobs will be going forward. Director-level and higher should be more considerate of those at lower levels who are doing the brunt of the work. Many managers were excellent and deserve higher positions.
