    Pros

Cool products(used to be), diversified portfolio in communication, storage and printer business, Best in its class QA structure. Excellent technical staff

    Cons

Too many managers and paper pushers have made all the good engineers run away.Office Politics and back stabbing at its peak. Bell Curve tactics employed by management is probably best in this industry.

looks like company run by bunch of accountants, future look down

Former Employee - Product Design Engineer

    I worked at PMC-Sierra

    Pros

The overall competitive compensation package is best in class.

    Cons

High turnover of much of the senior staff and management team who have either been laid off or have jumped ship to other companies, resulting in a loss of the intangible spirit that made PMC great. Newer executive management seems particularly out of touch with the common employee.

    Advice to Management

More respect and recognition for work well done. Many good people have been unfairly pigeon-holed, and are working out careers without the advancement and recognition they deserve. In the end, they become demotivated and put in a half-hearted effort, or they get fed up and jump ship, even if it means giving up a good compensation package.
