    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at PA Consulting Group (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Some excellent and very bright and dedicated people with whom to work

    Cons

Spends heaps of money to recruit people then does very little to mentor or train them. Makes people feel like failures then criticises them for not succeeding. No longer a "people" based organisation

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at PA Consulting Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - interesting diverse people
    - several opportunities for training
    - freedom to do what you want ...if it sells

    Cons

    - glorified body shop at best
    - lack of a long term strategy in favour of an opportunistic approach in chasing opportunities and clients.
    - current commission scheme does not promote collaborations resulting in a competitive enviroment which does not feel justified
    - relying too much on the pubblic sector and on existing clients

    Advice to Management

They should address all above cons. However, given the recent aquisition, I have my doubts Pa has actually much freedom left.

    Pros

    Helpful and friendly collegues.
    Entreprenurial environment.
    Career opportunities including transfers.
Good balance between risk and stability.
    Senior mentoring to junior collegues.
    Compensation.

    Cons

Need for more focus on fewer services and sectors where there is less critical mass than in the uk.
Dare to invest in order to grow. Hire more people. There are more than enough highly qualified applicants.

    Advice to Management

Need for more focus on fewer services and sectors where there is less critical mass than in the uk.

More of a federation of niche consulatancies than somethign larger. Some exodus of long-serving and experienced people post Carlyle deal. Mostly truly great ppl to work with.

    Cons

Salariues not great. Unclear performance system. Some partner behaviours poor

    Pros

Perfect size; big enough to provide global interesting career opportunities; small enough to make you feel like an individual and that you can progress your career accordingly.
Carlyle investment in 2015 has helped to supercharge the management strategy - real buzz about the firm.

    Cons

Brand is less well known than some of our competitors and so we need to explain who are to new clients.

    Advice to Management

Continue to be proud of the brilliant firm that we have all created and continue to push our brand globally. Some great leaders in the firm - let's celebrate them

    Pros

Nice, smart people, doing interesting work. Appears to be decent life-work balance and recent Carlyle investment shows faith in potential of firm and its brand.

    Cons

knowledge management and sharing is dreadful. don't get a strong sense of team (that could just be my part of the business) or a clear sense of direction for the future.

    Advice to Management

Be clearer on implications of new strategy for individual recognition and reward.

I have been working at PA Consulting Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The colleagues: Highly committed, well educated, creating a friendly and supportive culture

The development/Training: As the consultants is the no 1 asset the company puts a lot of effort into further develop and train the people in consulting skills, industry and service expertise

The growth strategy (2015 and onwards): Will serve to organise and direct the combined strengths of the company into growing significantly in the US as well as continental Europe, The Gulf and Asia

    Cons

Historically not promoting a "go getter attitude" with the result that some feel restrained in regards to business development, branding and sales.

Administration taking the focus of consultants away from core business.

Pay levels (total compensation) need to be on par with tier 1 consulting firms in order to compete for the no 1 talents and experienced hires

    Advice to Management

Commit to the strategy and ensure that consultants of all ranks get the opportunity to engage in strategy execution.

    Increase transparency in decision making

Increase junior consultant possibilities to engage in sales and recruitment activities

Ensure administrative staff get the opportunity to support consultants in order for the to focus on sales, learning and delivery.

Ensure pay levels are up to par with tier 1 firms.
