I have been working at Ontario Power Generation full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Work/life balance Benefits, pay and pension are competitive Job security

    Cons

Not progressive Very laid back and bureaucratic nature of jobs Not much opportunity for growth Treats everyone equal due to unionized situation

    Advice to Management

Don’t spend money in stupid projects and investments that makes no sense and is not profitable (e.g. recent acquisition of cube hydro for 1.2 B with 100 years investment return, that’s pure ridiculous)

I worked at Ontario Power Generation for more than a year

    Pros

I had 5 internship offers and I chose OPG without looking back. A lot of red tape (things get done slow), but outage can get very busy. If you like procedure and structure this is the place for you. Very laid back and relatively stress free. Communication, safety and procedure are the 3 key words about this company. Flex hours, paid overtime and 4 month extension is common (which includes a pay increase). Quality of internship is heavily dependant on what department you are put in and who your section manager is. Work life balance is great. Would highly consider going back, hope this helps.
