I worked at Norsat International full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Get to work with lots of other teams (different engineering departments, customer service etc) Get to learn a lot about / work with a variety of different hardware Software Manager is great (support when you need it, independence otherwise) Great work-life balance and a flexible schedule Developers get to experience a variety of work (technical writing, hardware debugging, manual testing etc.) Coworkers are all very friendly and helpful Get to work with a lot of cool technologies Senior Management is very friendly / approachable Interview process is really enjoyable

    Cons

Software team gets treated like a hardware team leading to very out of date tech stack / development processes (one example - no DevOps) Team is resource-starved, leading to lots of corner cutting / accrual of technical debt No QA/SDETs/Tech Writers so sometimes you're stuck doing non-dev work for extended periods of time (also makes risks of bugs super high) Salaries are in the bottom quartile Company culture is a old-fashioned compared to modern software companies Code-base definitely needs improvement (little evidence of SOLID/GRASP, not much use of patterns [more-so tons of anti-patterns]) Company financials don't seem very healthy

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Norsat International full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Some talented staff, and some closely knit teams

    Cons

An executive team more adept at lying than leading. Expect horrendous workloads, no recognition, and plenty of blame. You’ll trip over all the corrupt and unethical business practices. Corporate strategy is flakey and poorly copied off the flavor of the month guru.
