Inclusive culture and innovative team
Oct 21, 2022 - Growth Marketing Director in Scottsdale, AZRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Best culture I’ve ever been a part of! Amazing people who are always willing to step in and help. The company is growing quickly and allows you plenty of opportunities to grow with it. The culture is scrappy like a startup, which comes with its pros and cons, but in the end if that’s what you mesh well with then this company is phenomenal.
Cons
Being scrappy can sometimes mean things get launched before they’re truly ready. It also means timelines can be set for launches and then postponed. That causes undue confusion for people who aren’t involved in the pre launch planning. Some of that could be overcome with better planning and project management.

Pros
Nextiva's grown fast in just a few years. Every Monday it seems like there are new people joining the team. I like my coworkers and the team atmosphere. People are so nice.
Cons
It's fast paced, always. I haven't seen a slow day yet.

DO NOT JOIN THIS COMPANY
May 26, 2023 - Product Owner in Scottsdale, AZRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
There are NO PROS to work for Nextiva. Don't get fooled by paid news on social media about some investment bank investing $x00 millions in Nextiva etc. The truth is, it is a badly managed company in every aspect. The management has no track record of running a successful tech company (you guys figure that out by doing some research)...They claim to have industry changing products but the bottom line is that even the company employees don't use them because they simply don't work. There are many other tech companies in the same space who are better positioned to survive in the long run like 8*8 Networks, Ring etc. So don't get fooled and DO NOT WORK for this sucker.
Cons
Medical benefits sucks. They won't start the 401k contributions until you complete 3 months which is unheard of and not disclosed at the time of hiring. Management at all levels is horrible and there is no accountability.

Company with Big Dreams but your day is spent ALWAYS dealing with problems
Jun 1, 2023 - Account Executive IIIRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Love the company culture and they do have some amazing products, but the systems seem to have constant problems. The job was very easy for me, but a lot of people do struggle there and do not make hardly any commissions, but the top sales people can make commission checks of over $20K quarterly. I made zero cold calls, and hit my sales quota every month and quarter, which would leave me in the top 1-3 sales positions quarterly and i would make those huge commission checks.
Cons
Starting in 2023 just after January finished, they rolled out a new commission structure that HEAVILY affected the top performers. It used to be if you finished 200% to quota you would receive commissions worth 300% of your target incentive, but now it went all the way down to only 200% to your target incentive. so say your quarterly Target Incentive was at $10K. all through 2022 if you finished @ 200% to your goal you would earn 300% ($10K x 3 = $30,000), but now they are going to only pay you at 200%, so instead of $30K you make $20K. There is only ever a couple people out of about 100 that finish at 200% to goal each quarter though. But for the people that aim for the over drivers, such as when you finish at say 120% to goal. They really cut down your excellerators. So iff you finish at 100% to quota you would make $10K for the quarter. Because of the new compensation plan, someone like myself that earned over $165,000 in 2022, by achieving the same % to quota each quarter would only make about $105K in 2023. So to perform at the same % level year over year you lose about $60K for the year. So i bailed. But for people looking to break into the SaaS industry it is great, with great culture, just do not expect to become rich off the new compensation

At Nextiva you can have a "startup stage" impact at a large and growing software company
May 19, 2023 - Director in Los Angeles, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Nextiva is different. From being HQ'd in Phoenix to its early days as a VOIP pioneer, this is not your traditional tech company (in good ways). As a mature and profitable business, Nextiva is not burdened in the same way that many venture-backed technology companies are. The organization is flat and not bureaucratic. This is a company where individuals can make a real impact.
Cons
As a technology company that is going through the "teenage" growth stages, there are many systems and processes that have not scaled with the company. Day to day, that can feel like the tasks you need to do or the tools you need to use feel less mature than the company actually is.

Pros
When I look at where Nextiva was when I first joined the company, and compare it to today. The company is in a much better place, but also very different. I am thankful for the opportunity and everything I’ve been learning. The people I work with are amazing, and I appreciate the love for making sure our customers are happy. I think there are lots of opportunities to improve as a business, but the speed and desire to improve makes me feel good.
Cons
When I look at all departments over the past two years or so, I think there were many bad hires. I do get a sense that the original passion and DNA that made this company special is coming back to life. But there is a lot to unlearn and adjust. Flat out, there are some people on the team that I don’t understand what they’re doing. But for the most part, the people that were selfish and bad for the business, are no longer here.

Love the People, Frustrated by the Direction
Jan 18, 2023 - ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The people. There are many great people here who are easy to develop relationships with. Used to be a fantastic culture too. Flexibility, they work with you on family issues. Fast-paced, with lots going on so you don't get bored.
Cons
The culture has been dropped. There's little to no budget for activities, used to do lunches and everything for whole company but now it's a fight to see things done for any department but Sales. Some departments are good at employee recognition but it is not company-wide. Should be on a larger scale and accomplishments should be celebrated not minimalized. The Channel team is over-promoted. They throw their weight around and ignore that we're all supposed to work together. A couple of the CMs talk down to employees, telling them that it's below their job and that they're busy in the field when asked for help. Or they just ignore you. Communication is not good. Upper management plays their cards close to their chest and don't share information. Departments are siloed and don't share changes. New products are deployed without being properly vetted. Frontline employees are left to pick up the pieces and chaos while upper management is singing the praise of how great it is. And pay. Nextiva has brought up pay but it is still painfully low, unless you're sales or top management.

Fast-paced company that rewards those vocal about their hard work
Apr 26, 2023 - Marketing Specialist in Scottsdale, AZRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you push your metrics, and you are vocal about where you want to be you can move through this company with a career trajectory. Opportunities to grow and learn new things.
Cons
Fast paced company with shifting priorities. You need to be on your toes and able to pivot to a new project half-way through one you were working on. Relative revolving door of Directors and Executives. There seems to be a semi-constant stream of director-level and up individuals leaving and being replaced externally. Some executives don't stop and expect you to be available constantly.

Pros
As an Executive Assistant, I have had the opportunity to work for several companies, but I would like to share my experience working for Nextiva. Overall, I find Nextiva to be a great place to work. The culture is inclusive, supportive, and promotes a healthy work-life balance. The Leadership is approachable and open to feedback, and the company encourages career growth and development opportunities for employees. One of the best aspects of working for Nextiva is the level of support provided to its employees. The Leadership Team also makes a concerted effort to ensure that their employees feel valued and appreciated, often acknowledging the hard work and contributions of the team. The Company's commitment to professional development is another significant highlight. The Leadership Team provides development opportunities, and they encourage employees to take on new challenges and responsibilities. I appreciate Nextiva’s approach to work-life balance, as well. They understand that employees have personal lives outside of work, and they encourage employees to take care of themselves and their families. This attitude helps to create a positive and supportive workplace culture that promotes employee well-being and productivity.
Cons
Overall, I don’t have any cons. However, at my previous company we had every other Friday off.

Good company going through growing pains
Jan 9, 2023 - Product Manager in Scottsdale, AZRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Relaxed and friendly culture with focus on creating a fun environment Good people (work force) Brand new facility with open concept - Very nice. Making investments - Implementing new ERP system Free food - Lunches and snacks (may change) A lot of opportunity to do good work
Cons
Nextiva recently laid off approximately 200 people (~20% of work force) without notice and minimal severance (at least there was a severance). Employees were notified over a video call that they were terminated due to a downsizing and their system credentials were removed immediately. Felt very cold and humiliating. There are VPs in the organization who are good people, but cannot lead. They lack the ability to create and implement a vision and introduce distractions that pull the team away from higher more business critical priorities. As VPs, leaders should set the direction for their teams by creating a vision, mission, objective and strategy for their team, and let the team execute; not insist on having boots on the ground and micro managing daily operations with no true north. This only creates an environment where the team feels untrusted. The system implementation was/is very painful. A Project that started Q4/2020 with a target to complete within 6 months, had a Go Live of early September 2022 and as of December 2022, was still in hyper-care/stabilization. Many customers impacted and frustrated. Employees, project team members also burnt out, frustrated and lost (quit) or laid off.
