I worked at National Oilwell Varco full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Well known company. Can learn a lot if working on site. If it weren't for the politics this company would be good.

    Cons

Too much corporate politics. Most of the managers are related to one another and are from the same city in lebanon.

I worked at National Oilwell Varco full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good place overall. Was in rig design, many opportunities to move from department to other departments if desired. Comparable salary.

    Cons

As with any oil-based industry, the current sub-$60/bbl pricing has hurt growth. Opportunities should bounce back once the cyclic nature of oil returns to a more positive.

I worked at National Oilwell Varco full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Engineering team was very talented and willing to put in extra time to make the project succeed. Tools and lab space to perform tasks.

    Cons

Poor technical and budgetary management of the projects left engineers performing work-around and hacks rather than addressing the issues. Solid products, but could be so much better.
