I worked at Mountain Warehouse (More than a year)

    Pros

    -nice 50% discount
    -paid 11.50 an hour
    -old manager was amazing
    -new manager was also nice

    Cons

-upper management is full of arses
-expectations for the store are unrealistic since management doesn't take into account the store size, and how much unnecessary stock they're sending in
-for the pay, we're expected to throw our backs out and move an impossible amount of boxes in a short period of time

    Advice to Management

-when storage is an issue, don't take away a shelf from the store
    -don't be arses
-try thinking of your employees for a change, and stop blaming it all on them

I worked at Mountain Warehouse part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Manager was great and the co-workers were fantastic. Flexible work hours and low stress. Great discount. As a first time retail job you'll find things to like, but when you work at other retail jobs you'll realize how lackluster Mountain Warehouse was. Clothing was surprisingly nice for a company that focuses on the cheaper outdoor clothing market.

    Cons

The majority of the negatives of this job stem from upper management and how the company is structured. Was no real sense of structure or order. District managers are incredibly rude and incompetent. Frequent Management turnover resulted in an extremely toxic work environment. As an employee you never feel valued. I never received a raise even after repeated inquires. Worked there for almost two years.

    Advice to Management

Put less emphasis on up selling and more on customer service. Store was frequently understaffed to due lack of hours. Fix upper management structure by hiring more competent District Management. Give employees some incentive to stay. Employee rewards program or something to that effect. I would not recommend working at this company for any serious length of time.

I have been working at Mountain Warehouse full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great employee discount to get cheap outdoor gear
Easy-going environment, no rules, easy job just lots to do
Easy to get hired as they don't attract good talent.

    Cons

Lack of company structure and routine makes for messy stores and everything being done differently in each store
Poor communication in upper management leads to confused managers and confused store leaders
Too many manual price changes too often
Too much tasking and no time to give customer service due to lack of hours despite positive sales results
    High turnover in management
No lunchroom area to put bags/coats away or take breaks

    Advice to Management

Train your managers. Give employee incentives to stay. Too much turnover too fast. Have clearer expectations.

    Pros

The product is cheaply made, but it priced accordingly. You buy what you pay for. Cheap product = Cheap Prices

    Cons

This company sucks. Every aspect of the business is confused. They have nothing set in place that bonds the company together. None of it makes sense..... everything they do, contradicts something else. Confused company.

    Advice to Management

You're all micro-managed. Save yourself and get out of a dying company.
