    Pros

    I liked the people
    Good office location

    Cons

I have a civil design background and was hired for pipeline drafting. I was tossed to the wolves and wasn't provided any training or real support until i was finally let go a number of months later. Tough to take as i felt that with a better training i could have done very well regardless of the amount of times i asked for help or studied on my own. My manager had a civil background and was also new to pipeline and feel that i didn't get any assistance because he didn't know how to assist but rather just told people to get X work done. The entire experience was very odd.

    Pros

Just an amazing experience. I had to leave UK for further studies. I wish I can get back one day.

    Cons

Not always the exciting job I may desire, but thats normal for a new entry level graduate

I worked at Mott MacDonald full-time

    Pros

international opportunities; wealth of long term experienced staff as mentors; interesting range of projects and scope to move between disciplines.

    Cons

progression tends to be more on a time-served basis rather than recognising talent/potential and promoting accordingly. Being such a large company, could do more to influence a Chartered Engineers role being more on par with other professions eg. solicitors, doctors etc.

    Advice to Management

to retain staff, don't let it become an HR driven company but rather strategic direction and management to come from within the core business'

I have been working at Mott MacDonald full-time

    Pros

Interesting work. Good colleagues. International opportunities

    Cons

Very bad culture for salary progression. No clear career paths. Lack of transparency over senior salaries (including the complete share package). Junior staff not included in decision making

    Advice to Management

Make public the average salary range for all grades.
Make clear career paths so people know what to work on in order to progress, consider setting up competencies/behaviours for each grade.
To make it a truly 'employee owned' company - open up shares and decision making to junior staff.
    Improve flexible working.
Allow junior staff to take on responsibility.
Have more diversity in leadership positions.
    Standardise policies regarding international relocation.

I have been working at Mott MacDonald full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Lots of interesting projects.
    Opportunities to travel.
Employee owned company. Senior management can make decisions for the betterment of the company in the long term, rather than short term solutions to appease shareholders.

    Cons

Once you are offered shares (senior staff only), the benefits make sense, especially for the lifetime employees. For new employees at a similar level, the salaries are a little below market rates.

    Advice to Management

Provide clarity of career progression for project staff.
