I have been working at Morneau Shepell full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work from home Great benefits Salary is competitive Leadership cares, they are present and check in The systems in absence management are state of the art, easy to learn and use - lots of innovation

    Cons

Workload is high, they are actively working on this and it is starting to show with the new changes, but they have been too high for awhile. There has been some turnover in leadership but everyone is working together with lots of communication

    Advice to Management

From the CEO down, in every meeting and every message delivered, it is obvious you care about your employees and are doing what you can to help with workloads. The changes have taken a fair bit of time, but they are happening! It is appreciated by the teams and morale will increase as workloads go down. Work/Life balance will improve at that time as well. Please continue to focus on your employees as they are the cornerstone...

I have been working at Morneau Shepell

    Pros

Some good people to work with at most levels in most teams. Dress codes have been relaxed over the years which is nice. Management is open to new ideas and rarely shoots down something without giving it a reasonable chance.

    Cons

Severly understaffed in many areas. Way too much reliance on individual resources for many tasks with no backup. Business is at a huge risk of coming to a grinding halt in many areas should key staff ever leave, but it's also how costs are kept down. Recently allowed anonymous feedback and questions in all employee calls, but decided while on a full court press to improve engagement scores that allowing people to safely...

    Advice to Management

Listen more, understand that trying to silence negative opinions and thoughts doesn't make them go away , it just creates deep seeded resentment of you for not being willing to listen that will be harder for you to overcome. Employees will still share amongst each other, you'll just be oblivious to it. Come to grips with the fact that if everyone is telling you they hate something no matter how much time & effort you...

I have been working at Morneau Shepell full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great group of people on the engineering teams. If you get on the right team/situation, maybe you'll learn and do relevant things, otherwise you'll just fix bugs.

    Cons

Salaries are low, RRSP takes a year to trigger, some of the "benefits" are just not appealing.

    Advice to Management

Focus on quality, not quantity, you keep hiring and hiring, while losing good, competent people due to low salaries. Quality should be more important than quantity. This is a billion dollar company that doesn't value engineers, even when software solutions are part of the core of the business. You do employee surveys, people complain about salaries, and then a guy comes in and says, "yeah salaries are low, but we offer...
